This is amazing. I think we should all recognize out loud that 2014 has been the most amazing season anyone could possibly have hoped for. Aside from an obvious person winning it anyway. This is absolute poetry.

As usual the action between races is more interesting than anything that happens on track.

I don't really understand why McLaren is employing Alonso and Button next year, that's too logical and reasonable for Formula 1.

In his defence though, no decent drivers have come up from smaller teams for a LONG time. Vettel was the last person to progress from a crap team to a good one with any real results. Everyone else who has been given the opportunity has been dogshit.

Ricciardo followed Vettel's path, is not dogshit.

I don't think of TR as a crap team, just a junior team.

I cant wait for a McLaren-Honda 1-2 Championship with Button two time WDC dabbing Alonsos stricken seasons induced tears with his charming beard. Good times ahead.

I assumed the same thing would happen to Nico in 2014 because who cares about F1 unless someone is reduced to tears but instead we got a boring status quo WDC outcome.

I would like to thank McLaren for providing Honda with a sub standard platform to return to F1 with.

I truly enjoy tears in F1, in particular when those tears are flowing from billion dollar multinational companies.

Now, who will finish higher in the 2015 WCC, Lotus or McLaren?

No one, not even Crofty, confused the green Caterhams with anything but a Caterham. Or confused them with being competitive. But the were definitely easy to spot.

If RBR were are cool as they pretend to be, they'd troll everyone with a McLaren/FI-esque livery for testing but arrive at Melbourne in their usual paint scheme.

One problem is the circuit layouts changing over time. Spa is obviously out if you want to go really far back because it doesn't go through the woods anymore.

For fun I compared the 1964 British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch with the 2011 British GT championship results, but I don't know how much that circuit has changed other than it seems shorter today based on math. Anyway, Jim Clark's qualifying lap in 1964 was 1:38:1, which is about 97mph over 2.65 miles. An SLS AMG GT3 did a 1:28.6 in 2011 with an average speed of 98.87mph which would work out to 2.42 miles. If you take Clark's average speed over the shorter distance, it'd be a 1:29:8.

So yeah. Imperfect comparison, but it looks like the racing SLS isn't that much faster than a 1960s F1 car.

Not sure about Melbourne but Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is for all intents and purposes a race circuit. The only reason it is sometimes called a street circuit is because the public is free to drive around most of the track when an event isn't happening. I think the track also leads to a few buildings inside of the circuit that are not related to racing.

You've basically described Albert Park too.
