Sorry, I'm quite busy at the moment.

Now that the guys have done A Low Down Dirty Shame, they should tackle the other two action movies Keenen Ivory Wayans did.

Most Wanted with Jon Voight and Eric Roberts and The Glimmer Man with Steven Seagal (and Stephen Tobolowsky).

Toboe's story about that movie is amazing.

The funniest thing about Requiem For A Dream is that a lot of people only know "rear end to rear end!" from the movie. Lot of people get a very different experience than they expected when they push play.

Yeah I did that, I was a big fan of Pi so we went to RFAD with a lady. Actually was fine for the relationship at the time, still kinda traumatic.

It’s literally one of the greatest American films ever made. One of Hackman’s finest performances. Seriously. Drop what you’re doing right now and watch it.

They have said this repeatedly for a while now: Just because they riff on a movie, it doesn’t mean it’s a bad movie. Is that movie good? Sure. Is there plenty of fodder for jokes? Absolutely.

He writes like a movie critic (because I think he is). It's that pretentious style with tons of long words to pad out the article length. It just turns me off. Plus I often feel like he doesn't understand some of the movies (maybe too high, or just not paying attention) they talk about so it makes me skeptical of his opinions.

I've found I often have very different tastes than the boys, but for some reason I still enjoy the show. Probably the only overlap I have with them is my love of Star Trek (no nutrek) and Lifetime movies.

Gizmodo made the list (and it seems to have been scrubbed from their site), someone saved the top 20 on another page. They used Metacritic to check how often a critic's rankings were off of the average for a film. Pretty impressive he made #10 on a list of ~400, but the percentage is less than you'd expect at that height.

1) Hal Hinson (45.9697)
2) Phil Hall (37.5292)
3) Diego Semerene (25.6672)
4) Eric Campos (22.4503)
5) Gene Siskel (22.2135)
6) Rex Reed (21.2553)
7) Andrew Schenker (20.6337)
8) Drew Taylor (20.2956)
9) Eric Hynes (19.7705)
10) Chris Cabin (19.4809)
11) Barbara Shulgasser (19.2367)
12) Bill White (18.9479)
13) Richard Brody (18.0811)

18) Stephen Hunter (17.2302)

He's the one out of five dentists film critics who disagrees, I guess.

If you newer listeners want something interesting to check out, do a google search on 'Private Cabin Collective"

It's an improv group they started up along with a few other people (Justin Case). They did some lovely mumblecore movies, skits for Cracked, Funny or Die, and some other places. They were doing this during the early days of the podcast (I think they plug some of the stuff on the show) but before the podcast was their primary focus.

I'm very glad they decided to stick with the podcast.

Dude's big on huffing his own farts. I've honestly come to enjoy shows where he's absent more, just because there's less performative disgust. Bravo to that contrarian critic list for not givng Armond White any more oxygen.

His humor when he's trying to be funny never hits for me. But when he just deadpans a moment like "there's a trick to that chair" it hits hard.

I tend to like Cabin’s criticism and I feel that he’s usually pretty good about separating out his subjective criticism when it’s a personal preference thing. He’s a good spice along with the other guys. Not sure if I’d listen to a podcast if it was just him though :v

I think Cabin is a really good part of the podcast and that lengthy period when he wasn't around did feel noticeably missing something,

I feel like it needs a minimum of Andrew, Cabin and either Eric or Steve to really work, with Steve being my preference of the two since he brings a kind of dorky enthusiasm I think helps temper Andrew's kind of more standard thoughts and Cabin's Cabinness.

I do not trust ANY of their opinions on movies, but that's okay because i listen for them being weirdos and going off track. But i never trust anyone else's opinion, so there's that.

It is funny when they all start a tangent or skit, things move past that, then after a few minutes Cabin will bust in on a line having to do with the tangent that everyone has moved past, and I have to mentally rewind a few moments to get what he is talking about. It happens so often that I the recall is just part of the listening experience now, and I'm not sure if that means my head is broken or I am good at following along.

Either way I think we can agree this podcast is funny and Eric is the funniest one (RIP)

Cabin is the guy who has most of the jokes that seemingly fall completely flat or go on way too long like he starts singing a song so everyone just kinda moves on when he's done talking. I love all the guys but chris takes the biggest swings and as a result sometimes gets the biggest whiffs, lol.
