I mean they just had a whole month of talking about the Star Wars so I feel it's at least appropriate in this thread, but also I'm more excited about the upcoming worst of 2015 series. Have they said much about what's going to be on it?

One of the saddest things about Eragon is that the main focus of the book, the budding relationship between Eragon and Saphira as rider and dragon, where he finds her as a hatchling and raises her to adulthood, is completely glossed over. She hatches, flies into a storm, gets hit by lightning that turns her into an adult dragon, and the story continues like that isn't the dumbest thing anybody has ever seen.

If the rest of the movie had even attempted to hide the bland Star Wars/ LOTR homage, it might have approached watchably mediocre. Instead, it's just How To Train Your Dragon

The real saddest thing about Eragon is that it's just Dragon with the first letter changed

No, I explained that I couldn't listen to that one because I really wanted that to be better than it was, and it's bright points (design) was wasted, and it's still a :smith: spot for me.

Was he just too polite to tell you that your reasoning really applies to both movies?

They have clearly defined comic personas and that's what they go with. They've described what they do as "cartoonish outrage" and clearly it works for them and not for the dude who thinks it's like Family Guy(?). The point is to attract a wider audience, to entertain that audience, and not to teach that audience. It also says nothing about their actual experience or level of film education.

The audio cue was just what they needed to fit the plug into the show. A couple seconds warning beforehand to get that skip button ready, and a couple seconds after for people frantically paging through trying to find the end. I listened to the whole thing though because their plugs are funny and Spanish flea is great.

Too bad it's their last episode though, Parademon guy is gonna find them and exact his revenge.

Speaking of dumb scenes, Eric mentioned this one during the episode and it's laughably bad all the way through.

I am getting pretty tired of Eric’s constant suicide jokes. His gimmick has evolved into this weird self-loathing thing that honestly makes me a little bit uncomfortable.

The madmen did it, they took a comedy podcast and merged it with a deep dive examination of a Korn album and made the podcast I’ve always dreamed of

If that were the case then let’s excise the love stories entirely. Better nothing than the chaste kiss and requisite “I will love you forever, other plastic action figure.” Idk I totally get what they’re trying to say (bearing in mind that cartoonish outrage is their stock in trade) and I’m not sure why you’re simplifying it to “we want more graphic intercourse in movies.”

Saw the boys tonight and it was a good time. Good energy from the crowd and Under Siege is a fun, dumb movie so there was lots to talk about. Not too rowdy, which can probably be attributed to the venue running out of everything but Angry Orchard after 3 consecutive nights of Chris Rock. Sadly the posters seem to be stuck in merch shipping hell but I hope we’ll have a chance to pick one up at some point.

Seriously, if you want sex in a movie, watch porn. If you want a realistic and healthy depiction of flirting, romance and sexuality in movies, that was never depicted in movies and likely never will.

Their point is that it absolutely has been depicted in many of the movies they watch and iirc they always deliberately acknowledge when they see a healthy, normal cinematic relationship

It’s silly to say that when they’ve been generally positive on many marvel products recently, with Jupin saying on the Eternals episode that last year had way more hits than misses from marvel studios.

But since you mentioned it I think they’ve really toned down the cartoonish outrage and plot hole sniping in recent years. I went back to listen to their New Nightmare and Scream 3 episodes and those seemed way more mean-spirited than modern WHM.

They did dislike Eternals but like, it’s Eternals

I love the podcast, but one thing I have learned is I should really ignore how they feel about new movies, at least for the first 4-5 months when their opinions actually settle out of 'first reaction/online hype' phase.

Or, get this, you’re wrong

They were weirdly down on Civil Defense too. I do think Pale Moonlight is an interesting choice though, there’s not that much humor to mine.
