What I'm saying is that these gifs are cool, good, clean, rad, and powerful.

Rev. Bleech_ posted:I too found that story relatable; in 1990, I wanted the Ninja Turtles arcade game for NES more than anything. In my impatience, I sliced the wrapping on what I thought was it; turned out to be the original hard as balls TMNT for NES that I already had. Making matters worse, it was my "early present" on Xmas Eve, so not only did I ashamedly have to tell them it was the wrong one, they got mad at me for slicing the paper. I still feel bad for telling my parents I wanted the Star Wars books about mechanical stuff and not about the people/characters. Granted, the people one is funnier now because it was written before they established a lot of stuff, to say nothing about the retcons in the interim.

Guy Mann posted:It's really funny to me that their response to people complaining about them adding terrible ads to episodes mid-sentence and locking more and more content behind a paywall when they were making six figures a year off of Patreon was to just hide the amount of money they make on their Patreon page altogether. Oh man, thanks for confirming a half-memory that I couldn't confirm due to the shittiness of Twitter. Andrew was ranting about something people were requesting, and someone responded with an screenshot of their Patreon takings. I checked their Patreon minutes after that burn, and they had already hidden the number. E: I think people were wondering where the audio was for some recent live shows, and he was rather aggressive in how they weren't generally a priority / not to complain / if you wanted to hear the audio you should've gone. RobotDogPolice posted:My only criticism of the show is that the opening theme is much louder than the rest of the episode. I talked to Andrew about this at a live show, it's intended to pump you up.

This is kinda generic and subjective, I know, but has there been any episodes in the last 20-30 episodes that are particularly funny? Nothing against the hosts, but I've had this huge apathetic span of late where I see there's a new episode, feel nothing for the title, and just mark it read.

I can't remember if patrons eventually get recordings of the live shows, but man alive their Child's Play show was one of the best stuff they've done. Really invigorating; I've cooled a lot on WHM just because of the movies they've covered (nothing really grabbed me) but this one was awesome.

Is the Space Seed / Skin Of Evil Nexus ep they let out for non-patrons a reasonable sample of what The Nexus is? I've always been curious about the show enough to put in some cash, but the amount of times I wanted to slam the skip-some-time button on my podcast app was significant. (If I hear a TOS impression citing 90s music ever again I am going to go even more insane than I already am.)

Cael posted:How do you listen to the main show??????? Not as much as I would like, but as I mentioned an age ago, I've struggled to give a rat's rear end about most of the movies they've covered. It's quite a bummer, because nine times out of ten it's not the aforementioned bits-and-tangents that discourage me, it's just seeing the title and having no interest in the movie they are talking about.

Hey, sometimes you want to hear people talking about a movie like Child's Play, and not one like Space Cowboys. Doesn't help that the huge chunk of the episodes I'd love to re-listen to are now behind a paywall. (admittedly off-topic, but whatever happened to PreRec, anyway? Last I watched was them spending, like, an entire stream on the car part of the latest Resident Evil game, then next thing I know, poof, gone and scattered as RLM's not-my-star-wars SW reviews)

Iron Crowned posted:OUt of curiosity, what movies would you give a poo poo about? Honestly, I don't know, and that's the most annoying part of it. I guess it's like what that guy said about porn: I can't describe what it is, but I know it when I see it. Like, I was way too excited when I found out they were doing a show on Child's Play. Not just because it was in my general area and could afford to go there, but it's Child's Play gawd damm oot.

Violator posted:Heck yeah, F13 reboot getting a bit of love. I've always dug the reboot, personally. As you mentioned, I liked the different aspect of Jason than the more standard depiction, and I thought it was a bit stronger for it. Like, the guys said they wished there was more of an 80s veneer to the thing, but I think that would be counterproductive: making things an 80s throwback hardly feel like traits anymore, they feel like cliches that you roll your eyes over. (And sure, it's a dead titty shot, but the idea of Jason killing someone and basically getting his machette stuck in someone and being unable to pull it out is lowkey funny to me)

Iron Crowned posted:Podcast Addict works really good. Seconding this. Its only two downsides (for me) is that it has an annoying habit of closing itself if I pause at any time, and sometimes options/settings are buried under rather unintuitive sections, making it hard to find the right place for what you want to change. (oh and a minor third one, the developer can be a bit of a jerk, especially concerning the second thing I mentioned.)

Oh, this was kinda talked about, but whatever... Is the ad situation a case of popularity causing huge bandwidth costs for WHM? Most of the podcasts I listen to just use Patreon and maybe a minute or so ad, and I kinda have sympathy for those wishing the game of "how many times do I have to skip" didn't end with realizing, no, there's a lot more to skip.
