Pretty sure they use natural calf leather from Horween (aka the good poo poo) so a byproduct of this is, it will very visibly age over time unless you get black. This aging is a good thing, but not for everybody. I bought a leather case for my phone that got trashed in half of its reviews because "it changed color and looks awful now!"

I really like the look of the leather and the wood backs. I am really really hoping that they have a 2015 Moto X with those options AND Qi charging.

I've had the Droid Turbo for a few months now and love it for the most part. However It doesn't work very well when connected via Bluetooth to my car audio. There are two specific issues.

1. Playing audio over Bluetooth sounds like poo poo. It stutters, had this weird robotic tone and is basically unusable. This is probably the more annoying of the two issues.

2. The second problem is that Moto voice command stuff doesn't work well at all when on Bluetooth. The prime example is that if I get a text and try to get it read to me the phone instead directs me into send text mode.

The car in question is a 2015 Mazda which uses the Mazda Connect system. I've done a decent amount of Google searching and haven't turned up much. The one suggestion I've tried was turning off WiFi in the car but that didn't help a bit.

I used to have a similar problem on my old HTC EVO in my car, but not in my wife's car. I found that turning off WiFi fixed it in my car. You will probably have to disable the "scanning always available" option for this to work. Once I figured that out, I made a tasker profile that shut off wifi when it connected to my car's bluetooth.

I haven't had that issues since I got a new bluetooth receiver for my car.

It's a shame. Motorola had been doing so good with updates while Google owned them, but they haven't been able to get them out quickly since 5.0 came out. I know it's not completely their fault, and they did say that they were skipping straight to 5.1 because of bugs (which is commendable) but it's still disappointing.

As an alternitive to SD cards for media storage, I got one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Patriot-Stellar-Android-Smartphones-Transfer/dp/B00GMG2GEO

You can play files right off of it using ES File Browser and MX Player.

I wouldn't use it every day, but its good enough for traveling.

Has this been a problem for anyone else's phone? I was really trying to wait for the new Nexus devices, but between this and the battery being shot I don't know if I am going to make it, and I can get a new Nexus 6 for $450. I just don't want to buy another Android phone at this point if this is par for the course - I need my phone to be reliable for work.

A coworker told me that this is the exact reason that AT&T pulled the 5.1 upgrade for the 2013 Moto X.

Joining the disappointment in lack of Qi charging.

My Droid Maxx died on my last week, so I am slumming it with a Moto E till my contract is up and something better is available. I was hoping it would be the new X, but I can't give up Qi charging.

So now I am left waiting to see what the 2015 Droid line offers, or wait for the next Nexus.

Motorola hasn't had a great track record for updates this whole calendar year. I have heard that the problem has been with Qualcomm, US Telcos, and Lenovo management. Honestly, as a customer, the reason why their updates have been delayed or pulled doesn't matter to me. What does matter is that they went from having their updates come out with in a month of google releasing them to 6-8 months. I am not saying that I will never own another Moto device, but I am saying they have gone from being my favorite OEM to just another OEM since Google sold them.

Yeah that's old news and Google managed to pick the worst of the various options of dealing with SD cards for consumers (though, conversely, the best for developers). I suppose this shouldn't be shocking.

I disagree. By making SD cards part of the internal storage, users don't have to juggle where files are downloaded or stored or where apps are installed. It makes its transparent to the user, which is the whole reason they wanted to do away with SD cards in the first place. It gives all the benefits of easier management while also allowing for user expanded storage.

Users that actually swap SD cards around for different media are the smallest use case scenario.

Except now you have to educate users that they CANNOT remove their SD card because things will probably break, and instead of fast, reliable NAND built into the device, they get to pay for the device AND cheap, failure-prone SD cards.

Easier than educating users how to manage files on their SD cards instead of internal storage, how to move apps to the SD card (if the app even supports it), and why their phone says it is out of space when they just put a 128GB card in their phone.

Your average user is a lot stupider than you think they are when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Last in Line beat me too it, but quick toggles for things like GPS, Bluetooth, and NFC most certainly are fringe cases and the use of them shouldn't be promoted by phone makers.

The problem is not giving users the option to make quick toggles for any function of the phone. The problem is making the default a bunch of stuff that users shouldn't encouraged to changing.

But if you are so inclined to micro manage every single sub system of your phone, maybe I should suggest a phone OS for you.
