Not sure if you guys figured this out or not, but that open field full of radioactive rocks on Rustopia? It was more like a barrier of radiation. Most of the field is clear, you just have to go around.

The G700 uses AAs that you can recharge by plugging in the mouse or just swapping them. I haven't bothered doing it, but you can adjust the mAh settings so the meter/charging is accurate if you use different batteries than the OE Enerloops (which you shouldn't, they're among the best batteries out there).

I haven't played it, but I wouldn't base the decision on them dropping the sub. That's become the norm for newer MMOs...get people to sub for a while so you get a bunch of cash upfront, then make it F2P and ramp up microtransactions. See: Star Trek Online and a bunch of others. STO is raking in stupid amounts of cash or at least it was for a couple of years after they dropped subs.
