Liefeld is so completely shameless. Like, every time I think I've seen it all I find out about some other bizarrely stupid thing he did.

Fair is fair though, Smash is Liefeld's blatant ripoff of Hulk sure. But Fighting American is a blatant ripoff of Cap created by... Jack Kirby and Joe Simon. Shameless ripoffs aren't a new thing.

I'm not the most savvy person here for sure, but I'm pretty sure that Fighting American didn't have a shield until Liefeld got his hands on him.

Wasn't Gambit supposed to be player 6 in the X-Men arcade game but then replaced by Dazzler at the last minute to balance out the female representation?

All I know is that the X-Men arcade game was loosely based on Pryde of the X-Men, which didn't have Gambit in it.

Normally it's hard to post manga in these threads since they don't really work without context, but I always thought this exchange was pretty great.

Gwenpool #10

After several issues of the universe smacking it into Gwen's head that actions have consequences, comic book world or not, she mounts an operation to rescue her colleagues/friends from an army of alien squid weapon dealers. For once she planned it out with a mind to avoiding civilian casualties (although at one point she decided to hold innocent bystanders hostage in order to convince a third party to help her). At the end of it all, she's successful and feeling pretty good about herself.

If you wanna know the writer's ideal for how Bruce and Selina should end up, read the second Rebirth Annual (which in it's self acknowledges the impossibility for the title to actually ever get there.)

But this is all talk for the Batman thread.

That was a pretty great issue, minus the whole "Bat/Cat" pet names thing. It doesn't actively annoy me or anything, but it doesn't really click for me the way the writer clearly wants it to.

Incidentally, I'd pay good money for a Bat-Family Thanksgiving Special with older Selina and Bruce.

Yakuza games are basically modern day River City Ransom games, running around town, beating up random dudes for money, and they're super goofy in tone, at least in the sidequests.

They also have excellent soundtracks which elevates the material significantly
