My friends and I had a very tough time finding second-hand wristbands last year for week 1. Everything was easily double face value, but week 2 tickets were cheaper and easier to find.

Well I found a weekend 2 ticket. Fuark yes. Now to organize all the other odds and ends of being there. It's my first festival far from my home of TX. Logistics are only slightly more difficult.

Pretty sure there's people who don't tighten their wristband all the way and just sell it if they're only planning on two days.

Never seen Coachella tickets (weekend 1 / pre-two weekend) selling below face value, but here we are. You really hosed up this year goldenvoice

I have friends who cannot find anyone to take their tickets and are considering giving them away

How exactly are you going to remove the wristband? You can break the seal with pliers easily, but unless you have some way of obtaining a new seal how are you going to put the wristband on your arm? They do spot check that (original seal, so you'd need an exact color/size/design replacement), although Sunday will probably be more lax

PS: at the rate that ticket prices are plummeting, you can probably buy an entire wristband on friday or saturday for basically nothing (not thru stubhub, because it will be too late for shipping, obviously)

Really trying hard to watch this live on youtube, but all the techno sets (more like trance) just seem so terrible compared to prior years. Set after set of top 10s from beatport following the usual 'hella dope drops' seesaw pattern for 60min. Sooo loving boring.

Or maybe I'm just getting old.

:ssh: real techno is in the yuma. I dont think that streamed.

Back to civilization and had a blast. Drake was weak as gently caress, but people loved him (or didn't care because they were high as gently caress). I tried real hard to give him a chance, but he didn't come through. It was a weak year. There were whole blocks of downtime and poo poo didn't pickup till after 5pm.

highlights: Run the jewels, caribou, st vincent, jason bentley, the weeknd, (just) do lab, gesaffelstein (who started on time, but ran over because gently caress you thats why), festival bathrooms, spicy pie, brand new

lowlights: loving camping toliets, drake.

incoherent is right and Yuma had some quality poo poo in there: Tale of Us, Carl Craig, Danny Tenaglia, Jon Hopkins, Ben Klock

Also if you want techno, even better places to be are Movement, Decibel, or Great American Techno Festival.

My highlights were very different from yours, but I have to agree with this statement.

The scheduling was just weird, I felt like there were far more serious conflicts than I remember in the past and more down-time blocks as well.

There were odd scheduling/stage choices too. I think Ratatat closing Sahara on Saturday was a bad idea, as they aren't as high-energy as people generally look for in that slot/tent, and the crowd's reaction reflected this. (Them being 20 minutes late didn't help either.)

Odesza was absurdly overcrowded in Gobi. Why were Nero/Terje/FlyLo/Porter all at the same time? etc.

I had a great time with a good group of friends regardless, but yeah.

Yes, there are far better events to experience techno. I'm very thankful for yuma as it allows the cream the crop to come in and spin in an romanticised environment. The acts that play are very important to electronic music and the development of various sounds (techno, deep house, house, etc), but probly wouldn't fill a tent. The stage lends itself to intimacy you'd get with a club show with a very real capacity limit and gives people enough room to dance.

Also bonobo spun as a surprise guest in the do lab.

E2: Also gently caress flosstradamus for trying to play hard style in between the trap. We knew what you were doing, and they weren't buying it.

I'm going to have nightmares about the things I saw in the porta-potties.

But yeah, Coachella was amazing. Turns out even a 'weak' lineup that I hated on release still delivers with the most incredible shows you'll ever be a part of. Personal favorites were Kasabian, Lykke Li, Brand New, Florence(whoa!), Stromae, Yelle, Tame Impala, Run the Jewels, St. Vincent, FKA Twigs

AC/DC was hell of a lot more fun. Even being out for 6 years, they could play their songs with 100% accuracy and energy.

this. this was just as good of a Coachella musically as the last 4 I've been to. They improved a lot of the infrastructure and organization.

The art though. Holy gently caress was the art bad this year.

We were a group that decided to get there early, mostly because we didn't care about the headliners. Our method was to basically try to find bands with horn sections, which really did work out well for us. My favorite no name act was Nortec Collective... and it appears that we're not the only ones, because their time slot has changed. It was so much goddamn fun - essentially dance music with mariachis and weird/creepy masks for the DJ's. St. Paul and the Broken Bones and Alabama Shakes need to tour together. Soulful as poo poo with so much energy. As others have said, Kasabian rocked it and Gesaffelstein was a great show, even with me not knowing anything about dance music. Dude just kept mixing until they literally had to turn the sound off on him. I appreciate that. Jack White was a drat good headliner - very talented and played a lot of different genres - including a fair amount of folk which I wasn't expecting. Also, I had never experienced a 30+ minute encore before. I listened to a few songs with AC/DC and they sound good, but nothing special. And... gently caress Drake.

It amuses me when the old timers deliver a set that's superior to sets by artists half their age. Like when The Cure played for 2 and half hours until they finally shut the power off. Drake couldn't even be bothered to do an encore. That's practically rude behavior for a Canadian.
