He then turns his gaze to the valley itself, looking for a route that would allow them to take the Settite sentries by surprise. "It would be best to make our way into the valley quietly. As few as we are, we cannot afford to go marching in and announcing our presence openly." Per 12, Observation 11, and Tactics 12 to find a route into the valley that would let us avoid being spotted.

He follows Totach around the large boulder, and steps up on his right, swinging his halberd at the cultist.
