Woods was taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center by ambulance, where he was in serious condition and being treated for his injuries, the Fire Department said. His injuries included a shattered ankle and two leg fractures, one of which was compound, according to a source familiar with his treatment. Ouch, he’s done for a while.

With enough work he could eventually golf again... Technically. This recovery is going to be hell for someone with an addiction though. I'm more worried about his ability to come out of this sober than I am his ability to golf.

Yeah at this point Tiger doesn't have anything left to prove in professional golf. Just get better so you can play with your kids and recover as much as you can of a normal healthy life.

I mean it wasn't a fender bender but I've seen much worse on much older cars with less physical damage to the person. I think the position of the car made extraction difficult but it was like some unidentifiable mangled heal or anything.

s part of a statement on Woods' official Twitter account, Dr. Anish Mahajan of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center updated the famed golfer's condition, saying in part that Woods had multiple "open fractures" to his lower right leg, and he had a rod placed in his tibia and screws and pins inserted in his foot and ankle during an emergency surgery. "Comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula bones were stabilized by inserting a rod into the tibia," said Mahajan, the chief medical officer and interim CEO at Harbor-UCLA. "Additional injuries to the bones of the foot and ankle were stabilized with a combination of screws and pins. Trauma to the muscle and soft-tissue of the leg required surgical release of the covering of the muscles to relieve pressure due to swelling. He’ll be lucky to walk without a cane the rest of his. Think his golfing days are done

That sounds 10 times worse than Alex Smith's leg injury from a few years ago. They considered amputation after an infection set in. The E60 on his story is fantastic. I know I made a joke about him winning a major in 2022 but in all honesty I'm glad he's alive and will get to see his kids grow up. He also was recovering from a 5th back surgery so yeah he's probably never playing golf again.

Officially had a dislocated and broken ankle, somehow managed not to do any damage to my leg or foot. I'm in overall good health, ride my bike a good 100-150 miles every week, walk when I play golf, and played hockey and lacrosse growing up through college. I'm nowhere near as athletic and built as Tiger, but I'm in alright shape. Quick summary of the timeline: That accident happened late July, I flew back home to the states and had surgery at the end of the month. I've got a plate, 5 pins, and a screw in there now. Have a look! (and no, that's not my name on it on the 2nd picture)   The little grain of rice looking piece by itself is the other end of a tightrope that's basically running through the ankle to help hold it together. After the surgery I was on crutches and a kneeling scooter until late October. At that point I was into a walking boot, and eventually a brace that let me walk in normal shoes (walking boots loving suuuuuuuuuuuuuuck). I began physical therapy in mid-November, and had completed it right at the end of the year. At that point I was walking fairly comfortably in dress shoes, and could ride a stationary bike with no real problem, but it would bother me pretty good if I'd spent the day on my feet. So with all that, I didn't do nearly the amount of damage to myself that Tiger did, but I'm also sure Tiger's rehab regimen is going to be a lot more intense and the team of specialists and doctors he's gonna have are i'm sure at the very top of their game. Physically, I'm sure Tiger can get back to his daily life routines, and maybe play casually, in charity events, etc. I'd imagine he COULD return to full bore PGA play at some point, but whether or not he wants to could be another matter entirely. E: To add and specify, this was my right ankle. The plate and pins are on the outside of it. I play golf right handed. I could swing my clubs without any pain in the late spring of 2020 and it felt largely fine playing in the summer, but would usually need to ice it down after rounds. Realize we're all in on Tiger info right now but I got to play at my new club after work yesterday and I'm so, so happy with my decision to join. Finished my last call yesterday at 2:30, got to the course at 3:00, played 9 holes by myself and walking with my push cart, finished at 4:15. Just listened to music, drank wine, and had a decent round. Can't wait to get back out there.

Well I’d assumed that each one was only 1 glass before, so at $5 a can it didn’t seem worth it. Now that I realize they’re actually 2 glasses it makes more sense monetarily. It’s kind of a strange story but last year on the No Laying Up forum at the very beginning of the pandemic we were looking for things to do and as it turns out one of our members is a level 3 sommelier (extremely advanced wine expert) and he started doing wine classes every week. I’ve always preferred wine to beer but even still, I learned a ton over the last year. And I learned that some of my preconceived notions were actually very wrong. Canned wine is great, screw tops are actually better than corks and don’t mean a wine is cheap, and there is nothing better for a hot, humid day than a very cold glass of Rosè.

If I'm understanding this correctly, they allow up to 20 teachers to have teacher memberships through the summer. My brother-in-law is a teacher too and he's interested as they're moving about 5 minutes away from the course. My last call of the day cancelled yesterday so I immediately ran out the door and drove there. Played the back 9 in an hour and a half walking. It was so much fun. I then sat down with the head pro and talked to him for a bit. He said they haven't had an assessment in 11 years because the board realizes what they are and what they're not and isn't trying to change things. It's just golf, they don't really have much to do for young families like a pool, a nice restaurant, or social events. But the course is in good shape and the layout is fun. There's 2 Par 5s that force a layup if you're playing from the tips which I can't stand but it is what it is. Heading back out there today with my fiance so she can play a few holes. She's never actually seen the course.

Concession has been really fun to watch. The score will end up pretty low, but I'm pretty sure I've seen way more doubles+/pros looking like chumps than the usual -20ish win. Played today, first time out with the new 921’s and had a blast with how much easier and further they are than my old mp60’s, but I absolutely ate poo poo around the green within 150.
