I don't know if anyone else reads Cricbuzz but the kind of mood I am getting from them recently is "why won't ODI's just die already?" A headline for Stokes retirement: "Stokes retirement a game changer for pointless ODI series"

South Africa are cooked, in all senses. Why the hell they thought bowling first was a good idea is beyond me.

A large win, but it's hard to celebrate what was a captaincy/coach-led suicide.

I played eve for a bit, applied to goonswarm or the some offshoot thereof, got accepted, installed all the various third party apps required and then got stressed about it all and never played again lol

Well, to end this derail once for all: there is a new EVE thread in the MMO HMO, and there is a new SA affliated group in the process of being formed. Goonwaffe, Goonswarm Federation and The Imperium have made it clear they don't want anything to do with this dead comedy forum

Warwickshire chose to bowl. Madmen. E - they got a wicket straight away, but that happens when you play Kent.

Really enjoyed Big Ras and Markahm hitting balls but they should've gone harder in the last 10. Give Beefy Miller more balls if you ask me.

Sorry to bring this cricket thread back to cricket (inconsiderate I know) but with a ODI league to get points for the next world cup and with all the poo poo SA got for cancelling their league games against Australia, why aren't the current ODI against England counted in the league? Shouldn't every single ODI be a league game?

So it’s similar to the World Test Championship: at the start of the cycle each team was allocated a certain number of countries they had to play a three-ODI series against for the league (couldn’t be all 12 because of a combination of time and avoiding India-Pakistan games) and South Africa-Australia and England-India (indeed the random England-Netherlands series) were part of that. England-South Africa is not one of those ICC sanctioned games but an additional bilateral series and so is not part of the Cricket World Cup Super League or whatever it’s called. Otherwise South Africa would just beat up on Zimbabwe or whatever to get in. It’s very similar to the 2021 England-New Zealand test series: that wasn’t included in the ICC Future Tours Programme but was added bilaterally so therefore it didn’t count towards that World Test Championship cycle. The series this year was in the FTP and so does count towards the current cycle. It is a little confusing but I think it all makes sense when it’s explained.

Fancy scoring 584 first up and then losing by an innings. To be fair to the Leicestershire groundsmen someone getting 410 not out is ridiculous, there's no pitch in the world that facilitates that. Seems like it was just Sam Northeast's day. Bit of a shame they declared really as he was in touching distance of Lara's 500 (which of course did result in a draw when they let him bat on forever).
