MCC members don't pay for test match tickets, they queue up and it's first come first serve for a seat in the pavillion for members. The World Cup final this year will be the first time ever that MCC members have had to pay to attend a game at Lord's.

Ah, this explains why half of them are sleeping during the match.

Pakistan the first team to score 340 or more in three consecutive ODIs, England the second.

I'm not convinced the group stages of the World Cup will be terribly entertaining (India vs Pakistan aside, ofc), but the later stages could be fun if some of the pitches start falling apart.

England World Cup squad is out, and they've actually had the balls to drop Willey for Archer.

Also selected Liam Dawson cause Morgan doesn't rate Denly.

Eoin Morgan (Middlesex, captain), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), Jofra Archer (Sussex), Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Tom Curran (Surrey), Liam Dawson (Hampshire), Liam Plunkett (Surrey), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Jason Roy (Surrey), Ben Stokes (Durham), James Vince (Hampshire), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire), Mark Wood (Durham).

At the same time, Willey shouldn't get too disheartened because it's a long World Cup and I'll be surprised if one of the seamers (probably Wood) doesn't break down and give him a chance to return at some point.

Wood is the most likely to, but Woakes and Plunkett are also both candidates for bone failure.

The answer is, mate, because I want to do you slowly. There has to be a bit of sport in this for all of us. In the psychological battle stakes, we are stripped down and ready to go. I want to see those ashen-faced performances; I want more of them. I want to be encouraged. I want to see you squirm.
Let's be honest, Willey is a real dick

I think picking too many specialist batsmen is a mistake, our top order is really strong and they all look in great form, whereas the bowling has been much less reliable. Having someone who can pick up the slack if one of the bowlers is having a bad day and getting smashed all over the field is a good idea. I'd pick:

Roy
Bairstow
Root
Morgan
Buttler
Stokes
Woakes
Curran
Ali
Rashid
Archer

Plunkett in for Curran and move Ali up to 7 and that is going to be the team I bet.

Check their stats since 1st Jan 2018 and you'll see Curran is better at the moment.

But it is a bit like comparing apples and oranges. Curran is also a much better choice for opening and closing the bowling, while Plunkett is better for the middle overs and the first 6 overs of the death.

At which point it becomes Archer V Plunkett.

Vince I imagine is only in the squad in case one of the top five gets hit by a meteorite, because otherwise I suspect they're set in stone.

Yeah I'd go for Curran too, but I suspect England will stick with Plunkett at least for the start of the tournament. Morgan is a big fan of him.

Yeah that's my thinking, Archer and Curran opening the bowling and Woakes/Stokes taking more of the middle overs. Ali I pushed down the order because he's been useless coming in at 7 in the Pakistan series.

Curran's also a better batsman, Plunkett's a decent biffer but not much else.

I feel Woakes has to open because of his potential for early swing - see the start of Pakistan's innings last match, for instance. That swing doesn't last long, after all.

As for Moeen Ali, he seems to have been in a very hit-happy mood of late and seems to be taking crazy risks early in his innings, which is maybe a shame because he's a better batsman than that.

Morgan fractured his finger in catching practice, Wood pulled up in the middle of an over and has gone off the field and Archer slipped on the outfield and went off to be replaced by Paul Collingwood.

Things going as expected for England in the build up so far then.

Does anyone know where we can watch the Cricket World Cup, is it free to air or Foxtel only? I'm in Australia. If it's Foxtel/Kayo, does anyone know any streams worth using?
