Especially since they cut the music for a second to show a delivery then just started it up again, then just ended abruptly.

Negligent posted:Watson even managed to find a way to get lbw while fielding. Quality work by Watto as always, but I kind of agree with him looking at Clarke and asking him why he would throw it like that when he could have just walked up and taken the bails off. Asides from the pleasure he would have gotten from pegging a ball at Watto at that range, of course.

It's not a complicated rule if you're not a loving idiot like Stokes was. 10 year old children understand the concept that you need something touching the ground behind the line; this isn't unique to cricket...

Beyond hilarious that a team could lose by that many runs, look completely hopeless in every facet of play and get destroyed across the board and still get mostly 7s and 8s out of 10. I'm hoping the England selectors have the same opinions...

Never quite understood why mankading is so frowned in since it's literally only punishing batsmen trying to get an unfair advantage.

It's sadly telling of the dearth of quality we've seen recently that I've been incredibly impressed by the accuracy of the umpires this test.

When I was looking at tickets for the Gabba test it was $40-$50 per ticket which I thought was fine, although I can see how that would be terrible if I had kids or something.

I disagree with the general consensus about the not out. I don't think the umpires had definitive proof to overrule the call on the field, and as such had no choice but to give him not out. The kiwis putting their heads down and giving up a heap of runs is completely on their lack of mental strength. The lbw bit was retarded, though.

Having watched hotspot for a while I don't trust it when there's absolutely no noise, and as far as I can tell that's the way they've been told to rule in these situations. These reviews are meant to be definitive, and hotspot has already proven itself unable to be trusted in isolation. Considering the lbw fuckup there's every chance that they played the wrong audio, but in lieu of that mistake i would be comfortable with that call whether it was for my team or against.

Smorgasbord posted:Put aside hotspot for now - what about the enormous deviation off the bat into his arm from the front on replay? It's impossible to have your view on the decision if you missed that replay, you see the seam change orientation and everything. Happy to admit mistake, but I couldn't see it on the TV I'm watching on, which isn't the greatest. When I get a chance to watch it on a decent screen I'll be more than happy to change my opinion, but much like the third umpire I have to go with the tools I have.

Happy to defend the easily defensible. And I wonder how much easier or harder it is to spot that pink ball in the twilight. It certainly seems to be effective so far - wish they'd brought it out sooner.
