Lauren Jackson is the single best thing to happen to basketball in Australia and gets my number one vote every time. Largely because of her, Australia has three Olympic Silver medals and a few FIBA World Championship medals, including a gold, none of which we had before LJ. (Combined number of Olympic and FIBA World Championship medals held by the Australian Men's basketball team: zero.) She is largely responsible for the sport still being remotely relevant in this country, because we tend to lose interest in sports that we're bad at on an international level.
