This just proves to me that the internet's collective opinion about Roman Reigns is stupid. Give a guy a push and some really lovely scripts, and watch the IWC turn on him like rabid dogs. His promo on Smackdown proves to me it's not the man. It's the scripts. Oh well, heres to next year's Most Improved.

Roman gets a bit of a raw deal in that he's being asked to do a lot of things that he isn't good at, namely work long back-and-forth matches and cut funny promos. If WWE starts booking him in a way that plays more to his strengths, there's a very good chance that he looks a lot better next year than he did for most of this year.

That having been said, an awful lot of guys have been asked to work long matches and cut long promos over the years, and very few of them have been as bad at it as Roman Reigns was in 2014.

I'm more upset about (though not surprised honestly) that the Usos got pretty shat on despite having a lot of good and fun tag matches in 2014. But I guess it comes down to the fact they won all the time.

I think its also because people here thought that at some point the Usos should have dropped the belts to Luke and Eric which sure they probably should have to make the Wyatt family look less like a bunch of jobber geeks. And then people started to make the connection that because the Usos hung out with Cena that somehow meant they were the Samoan Cena twins of the tag division. Then the Usos Dust Bros sealed the coffin because most people here didn't want to boo the Dusts.

E: Also Regal is highly overrated as a commentator who only got votes because he isn't obnoxious as JBL or Alex Riley. He only called like 3 shows in 2014 and it wasn't really good commentating since he's really soft spoken for most of the matches he called.

Promos yes, matches no. Roman hasn't had enough long singles matches yet to really judge his ring work, but what we've seen is passable at worst, and possibly good-very good. The fact that Roman won worst on interviews by a loving landslide while Cena is basically worse about everything people bury Roman for (other than stumbles/flubs) AND Cena has a lot more control over what he says is kinda hilarious to me, though.

This is part of it. I think the Usos have won over more than one team they shouldn't have and will continue to do so. I don't call them the Samoan Cenas because they hang with Cena, I call them that because booking-wise and to a lesser extent promos, they're everything wrong with Cena, except in the tag division. I also think the Usos matches are overrated by some people here. They never have bad matches, but the only blowaway matches I can remember seeing from them were with the Wyatts.

For the record I didn't vote so I have nothing to do with the Usos being on that list.

I have no idea how Roman got most over pushed when he spent the vast majority of the year, either in the Shield or injured. He's barely been in singles competition long enough to be pushed at all.

BIG BICEPS SHOHEI

Usos placing high in a "worst" category when all they do is have good matches is the dumbest thing. Roman Reigns votes are  worthy.

You'd hate Steve Austin if he was scripted to say some of those lines.

Also I put more effort into this ballot than my Observer Awards ballot for some reason.

Seriously, my ballot was way too WWE heavy, but it kinda had to be. I didn't start watching NJPW until WK9 (whatever people here say, I just can't get as interested without english commentary- next year between GFW and AXS I'm looking forward to getting to put a lot more things from that promotion on my ballot) and Lucha Underground I voted 2nd or 3rd for best promotion but really couldn't think of many specific things or people I liked enough to put in the ballot.

I did, however, vote some combination of Kane and DABIGSHOW for worst at everything. I might have had a stroke and claimed them as a tag team because I hate them.

Yes because it would be wildly inconsistent with his character. Imagine these lines coming out of the Rock's mouth and they're less terrible (but still terrible).

Still better than Umberger
The Usos are Good and they have Good Wrestle Matches but they are booked like tag team Cena so people hate them

That Cena v. Bray Last Man Standing match might have been poo poo without them being involved

Stoked to see O'Reilly dethrone DB for technical wrestler!

Thanks for providing the full results in a spreadsheet Goog and Matt, I'd love to see the same for the WO.

I generally agreed with the WO more where the two differed but giving BDYY the recognition he deserves makes up for some other questionable choices and Shinsuke winning Most Outstanding is cool.

Darren Young actually got some votes for most underpushed and Rowan was so close to winning Most Improved overall a good year. :unsmith:

Roman getting the interview vote is bullshit because he didn't even cut that many promos on 2014.

Also, holy poo poo DBry didn't win technical wrestler for the first time in history.

I voted for the Usos as the worst tag team because gently caress them and their lovely super kicks and lovely dives where they clip their feet.
