New archeological evidence shows us the ancient Nord peoples possessed more sophisticated weapon smithing techniques than once theorized, as newly unearthed artifacts show that they had mastered "stick with a heavy thing on one end for smashing" technology centuries earlier than previously recorded.

Must have come from trade, there's no evidence that Nords were ever that advanced.

I can't believe im about to spend another $20 on this game. Any compelling reasons I shouldnt buy the new anniversary edition? I'm kinda intrigued by the idea of the survival mode (which I know existed previously as a mod, but I kinda hate all the fiddly work you have to do with that).

Survival and fishing are included in the free update, so you already have those right now. I'll probably buy the Anniversary edition myself eventually, there's some player housing that seems cool including a farming mod that I want to check out. Also, lots of cool gear, animal companions and extra quests so why not.

So it really is just a DLC collection? No technical improvements, no base game tweaks, nothing? I thought for sure here would be something, but apparently not?

There does appear to be some improvements like script performance optimization.

Yeah Lucien's author was on the reddits warning folks about this. The scripts were running faster so trying to grab aliases in other mods that hadn't been filled yet, and crashing the game when it failed.

It is just Skyrim again, but I did spend hours playing last night and it's cool to have some new stuff, so I suppose I don't regret spending the £15 for the upgrade.

i already have skryim se for xbox which includes all the dlc's and the only thing this release would add, i think, is fishing?

You get all the other creation club stuff too with the paid upgrade, but you get fishing and survival mode for free if you have SE.

I think I was still in my 20's last time I played Skyrim. I'm having fun with it again but I hope in ES6 they go full Valheim with building options and crafting stuff from monster drops etc.

I think they might, but I would much rather have a more detailed world than a creative-friendly one.

I would agree with this. The novelty of playing trash Minecraft in Fallout 4 wears off pretty quick after the third or fourth one and eventually you're just wondering why there's more settlements than non-radiant quests

So after a decade after starting, I've bought Skyrim for the 3rd time. So far it's hard locked requiring a reboot twice to the point I killed the first Dragon. It's just like old times, though I can run now at Ultra 2K.

And now a familiar problem I have - After being made a Jarl for killing ONE DRAGON in Whiterun...I'm overcome with indecision. I have 20 quests in my list (including about 10 new ones that seem to have arrived with the Anniversary edition)...and I don't know where to go.

I tried doing one of the new quests that get thrown at you to deal with some bandits...which turned out to be 5 bandits standing around in the open that wipe me out with ease. Ok Ok, I get I should come back to do them later...but then what?

So, what's a good area to go to? From my memory of a decade ago, going to see the Grey Beards is not a good idea- that Troll is not a good fight this early on.

I always went to the Greybeards right away, but while walking there I do the various side quests and odd dungeons on the way there and by the time I get to Throat of the World that Troll isn't really a problem.

marktheando

Main two things with trolls are they are weak to fire, and have a fast health regen, so just need to hit him with a lot of damage faster than he can heal.

On this playthrough I'm doing survival and I died from the weather before I made it to the top of the mountain, the troll wasn't the problem. Camping was a lifesaver.

I'm playing a conjuration spellsword that hasn't become a stealth archer yet (only one point in stealth and none in archery). I found a creation club spell at one of the stones that is pretty overpowered- it conjures a ghost that is as powerful as MP you have remaining, can pretty must just use him and lydia to beat most enemies.

One neat trick on survival is to join the Companions and have a certain once-a-day transformation at the ready, since you'll avoid freezing to death, can run faster than any horse, and if you're only fighting individual tough enemies (like the frost troll) you can ragdoll them around and chip away at their health.

Just remember to not actually walk into High Hrothgar transformed and immediately be shouted to death.

Lydia (your Housecarl given assigned to you once you're made a Thane of Whiterun) or Urthgerd the Unbroken (from the Bannered Mare in Whiterun, who'll join you if you beat her in a first fight) can be used as tanks/distractions while you wheel around the troll and hit it with Flame. Just be careful not to hit Lydia/Urthgerd too much - while they can't be killed by enemies on certain difficulties, you're able to finish them off if they fall to their knees.

I’m out of date on Skyrim modding but unless something has changed, Vortex has issues with Skyrim. There’s a Skyrim modding thread that can probably provide an easy solution.

SkyUI's plugin doesn't have Skyrim.esm as it's master. This is only a problem with the ingame modmanager. Anytime you open it, it'll deactivate SkyUI because it doesn't understand that plugin.
The simplest workaround is to not use the ingame modmanger. If you want to use some Bethesda.net specific mods, download those. Then pop out of the game, open up your proper modmanger (Vortex in this case) and set/activate your loadorder properly.

Being an Archer can work pretty well in Morrowind. Works best if you can stack a lot of bonuses to it at chargen, because at something like 50 Marksman you reliably hit what you're aiming at. So, be a bosmer.
