Paladinus posted:I suspect that Chloe and her real dad were maybe a bit too close Anyway spent 4 hours on the game and still didn't get all the photos so drat. Man the wait between episodes is going to be killer. Weird allusions so far: Max Caulfield Blue is the Warmest Color (French movie/French devs but mainly this is going of Chloe's hair) Madoka Magica (Vaguely occured to me when watching the trailer and someone else pointed out how the tornado/hurricane/vortex is vaguely similar to Walpurgisnacht) Anything else you guys have noticed? The best part about your av/text combo is I can't tell whether you or someone else got it, but either way the effect is about the same.

Fun thing about the game is constantly being reminded of your own teens - it's really cringeworthy. I was laughing my rear end off and kinda feeling how close to home it hits with the Max and Warren dynamic. EDIT - Ahahaha comments on that Warren video are bitching about friendzoning and SJWs Dr. Killjoy fucked around with this message at 08:47 on Feb 5, 2015 |

RightClickSaveAs posted:I think the dialogue works within the world, it's at least pretty consistent. It's broad strokes characterization in a lot of ways (again, why would they have full out dudebro football jocks in a small, exclusive art school?) but I know that's more for the purpose of establishing this stereotypical high school hierarchy and it doesn't bother me too much. It does have a little bit of a Veronica Mars thing where some of the high schoolers seem way smarter and adult than others, yet still act and talk like high schoolers most of the time, but it's not nearly as bad as in most TV shows and movies where they have 20+ year olds playing the parts. Unintended Worst Possible Ending to the game.

I have to admit I'm glad the episodes are looking pretty busy - like I can't believe that that trailer represents just one episode let alone a day and I'm really hoping they didn't cheat bys sticking in footage from later episodes. Jeeze I can't even wait five more days for Episode 2.

Well that exceeded expectations...I think the wait is going to be even more unbearable this time - like the game is a TV drama that is consistently on terrible hiatus. The photo hunting for the journal was pretty straightforward this time. I mean come on, another squirrel picture? I did enjoy the Twin Peaks reference A third of people couldn't save Kate

With the choices I made, if I blamed Nathan somehow I would have been suspended (which sadly doesn't seem too far off from reality). So I had to settle for David and even then I didn't have much of a case for that.

Junkfist posted:While this game is a treasure trove of symbolism and nuanced direction, my favorite part of Life is Strange is the subtle influences of European culture. What? When I think French and hang ups about big noses, anti-semitism is at the bottom of the list. French national caricatures are actually big on noses because the French have got some holy schnozes. exquisite tea posted:Just got done with the second episode, taking my time playing through the story. Is there a link somewhere that describes the inner mechanics behind talking Kate down from committing suicide? It felt like that entire conversation was super-intense for me based on my earlier decisions but now that it's over it'd be cool to read up on what speech checks you need to clear. I ended up saving Kate's life, but I had to go through like five conversation points including more obscure poo poo like her dad's letter and the Bible passage she liked. There should be like a dozen steam guides about it. Just alt+tab next time you play.

Macaluso posted:I had a bug somewhat early in the game that was super annoying but had no real effect on the game as a whole. You can talk to Brooke and she'll let you fly her drone around. One of the dialogue choices, I don't even remember what it was now, I was interested in hearing the whole thing. Except she kept interrupting herself! Her idle dialogue kept overwriting her scripted stuff, and would stop her dialogue early. So there was some bits of her conversation with Max that I just couldn't get to because the game seemed to think she was done talking mid sentence. I tried redoing it several times and each time it did it in the exact same spot and so I was just like wellp Well looks like she was just that happy that Warren asked her out Did anyone else have any trouble helping Alyssa this episode? Like I rewinded her scene multiple times but never seemed to get the prompt to warn her. Which is sad because I've warned her everytime before and I totally want to make sure that she's in my party for the final boss. (Every team needs a tank)

Well, didn't expect the Evangelion Instrumentality Nightmare Sequence. Not, at all. I hosed the world and saved Chloe but I must admit that this ending feels particularly hollow, which fits since it's a rather selfish decision and doesn't artistically flow from everything that preceded. Heck the Nightmare sequence pretty much serves to convince the player to accept the true, mature ending - namely Choe's death. --------- Well off to brave Alpha Warren in the locker rooms to get all the achievements. Wish me luck.

Paladinus posted:The diner's sign says 'DI E '. I'm pretty sure that literally everyone in that town is dead, because nothing points to the contrary. But even if for a moment we imagine that some people survived, Victoria is dead for sure and so is Kate if you didn't save her. Serves them right for not having the right hair colour, I suppose. #baebeforebay I think that after everything Max has been through she deserves a truly selfish choice.

Episode 6 would play out like Alan Wake: American Nightmare and have absolutely nothing to do with the main game's plot and pretty much just be Chloe/Max lesbian roadtripping through the American Midwest.
