I laughed at the end when I saw 25% would steal from the Handicap Fund but only 6% would let the dog get run over by a truck I mean there's lines you just don't cross.

I was quite pleased with the game when Max saw something up on a high shelf and just got a chair instead of loving around with time travel to get at it.

Highly Unnecessary posted:I just checked and yeah Frank doesn't notice. However at that point you can't rewind no matter what choice you make so you unless you're on a second play-through there is still no obvious benefit to it. Max does think "That dog could come back" after you do it so the "You might get caught" thing was pretty clear to me. I still ain't gonna do it though, I'm not a monster.

I'm fine with you not getting to choose things like that though. It wouldn't make any sense for Max to not try to save them, I mean she isn't a heartless monster. Well.. unless you killed Lisa and the Dog. You monster

I really liked Gone Home, My So-Called Life (the show) and most video games about the mundane. Without spoiling anything, did the series more or less stay on that track or veer off into some retarded Square-Enix direction? The game is managing a nice blend of down to earth character development and time travel weirdness.

exquisite tea posted:Just got done with the second episode, taking my time playing through the story. Is there a link somewhere that describes the inner mechanics behind talking Kate down from committing suicide? It felt like that entire conversation was super-intense for me based on my earlier decisions but now that it's over it'd be cool to read up on what speech checks you need to clear. I ended up saving Kate's life, but I had to go through like five conversation points including more obscure poo poo like her dad's letter and the Bible passage she liked. The way it works is like this. Every time you don't help Kate in the game you have to get one more question right on the roof to save her. If the Bible passage turns up it means you got too many questions wrong and that is your last chance to save her by answering Matthew. If you get that wrong she jumps.

Paladinus posted:I don't think this is how it works. She positively reacted to all my answers prior to the Bible quote, and I always helped her throughout the game. Or did I miss a chance to help her somewhere? I'm pretty sure you don't need to help her at all. As long as you nail the last bit with the bible passage. But that only shows up if you're not going to save her otherwise. Zyklon B Zombie posted:I think you can only fail one of those questions, and you auto-fail a few of them if you didn't help her. I answered everything right and didn't get to the bible question which I think is the last one. You can pass every one, but there's only one answer that'll talk her down rather than the two 'right' options if you helped her. If you didn't tell her to report to the Police the only right answer is "I’m looking for evidence". If you took a photo instead of helped the answer is "I was scared". If you want to feel slimy, the only good response to not answering your phone is "It was on silent" despite that being a lie! So helping Kate makes it more likely for you to talk her down, but doesn't guarantee anything. Fans fucked around with this message at 09:27 on Jun 2, 2015 |

Paladinus posted:Yes, but arguably she's changed her mind about the first quote because of suicidal thoughts. That's why I picked it. The quotes about how people with money won't get away with it in the end. Kate has good reason to feel this isn't true.

RightClickSaveAs posted:I didn't see this covered yet, but how different is the game if she lives? Is she away in a hospital somewhere like was speculated? There's a surprising amount of seemingly unique mentions to her death if you're not able to save her. I haven't gotten far enough in my second save yet to see what happens in the alternate case. Yes the speculation is right, also people treat you like a hero and are rather proud of you. But maybe they do that in both, I haven't done a replay.

So was giving this a quick replay over the weekend and I'd forgotten that Max never calls Chloe for the five years she's missing. It's never really explained why either, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense that they wouldn't Text or anything what with being best friends, but I'm not really sure how Max's powers could gently caress things up like that either. Maybe it starts at a new branch of a previous timeline? Might explain why she just suddenly gets powers in the middle of class for no real reason, though not why she doesn't know about them. Also if there's a time Max would go back to "The time my best friend was killed" would be it. Fans fucked around with this message at 10:30 on Jun 15, 2015 |

For those wondering, it seemed pretty obvious to me that he had to kill Rachel because she woke up during the photo shoot. Max points out that Kate was asleep for the whole thing, while one of Rachel's photos is the moment she wakes up

Air is lava! posted:Another thing I really gotta give the developers credit for, is how the alt-Price family is visibly drowning in depth, but still do their very best to stay together. That felt quite depressing. Does it really cost 1500 dollar a week to do physical rehab? Poor Chloe must have thought her family was better of if she died in that crash quite a few times. Looking it up I got an average of around $300-500 a week, but Chloe is likely far more expensive than the usual due to her condition. I'm so glad we have the NHS, gently caress healthcare bills that's completely ghoulish. So what do people think about Samuel? CottonWolf posted:I don't get who's putting the graffiti everywhere. It doesn't make sense for it to be Jefferson, it's not his style, and it appears places he can't possibly have been. There's one bit that seems to appear in Chloe's car ('You are going to die') between the scene transition from The Dark Room to the Vortex party. Either it's just for effect or it's tied to the supernatural stuff that's been going on. Max does some time travel graffiti when she goes back to save Chloe's Dad. If you mark a butterfly on the fireplace it turns up for a while before finally going when you let her dad die. Since changing the timeline seems to make everyone just go along with it, someone may be messing with the timeline we're not seeing.

I only just realized I'm an idiot for not thinking who was actually taking the photo of Nathan with Rachel's body
|
|
|
|
Also the text you receive that makes you go check on the body was obviously not Nathan in retrospect, because it's spelled correctly while Nathan has always written like poo poo in all his other texts. This is going to be a tricky fifth episode I think. I got my bets on it starting With Jefferson trying to find out how much you and Nathan have told people before he gets rid of you both. Meaning you'll have to work with Nathan to escape, which may be pretty tough if you let Warren beat the poo poo out of him like I did
