I'm already looking at ways to tune the om617a for better performance

The beauty of a diesel is that performance is a much simpler matter. Add more fuel until it starts smoking, then add more boost to get your efficiency back and get your EGTs under control, rinse, repeat until you start breaking things or run out of money (though of course, most people go way fuckoff overboard on the first step and skimp on the second step because ROLL COAL BRAHHHHHH).
The problem is that 'more fuel' in a mechanical diesel past the point of 'turn the fun screw' means fiddling with the IP, which means $$$$$ at an injection shop- and IP internals are not something you can do in your garage because they're insanely precise pieces of equipment. Like, sub-1-thou clearances and 'one invisible dust particle can kill the pump' type stuff.

I think you'll find that quite a few 'dog people' agree with that statement. Other than that any dog without severe psychological or medical issues can be controlled, usually rather easily. It's just that lovely dog owners refuse to learn how to communicate with and train a dog effectively. That and most dogs are bored/restless because people are lazy fucks who think being in the backyard is the same thing as a walk.

My tax return is going to be great this year. The last 6 have been pretty big (08-11 because I had a massive RSP going, and 12-13 because I was in school) but now I've got neither of those and I withdrew the RSPs on the LLP to go to school, so any contributions I make have to offset that- still better than dealing with a student loan though. I'm expecting a little bit back anyway, going to be boring and throw it at some random little debts.

Yes, and they're incredible but I was talking more about the realm of ordinary consumer-grade stuff. Also most of those are at least partially derived from the old IBM stuff (and that's a good thing) which kinda sorta supports my point.

OH HELL NO. I can't stand Microsoft keyboards or mice. They feel loving terrible to me, especially the "ergonomic" ones - I taught myself how to type in 3rd grade, and use all fingers on my right hand and 1-2 fingers on my left hand to type (and bang out well over 100 WPM doing so), and have no concept of home row. The ergonomic ones turn me into a 20 wpm hunt and peck typist.

I stick with Logitech for mice, and if I could get out of the habit of spilling drinks constantly (and also break my cat of walking across the desk and knocking over any drink he sees), I'd have a nice mechanical keyboard. For now, I wind up buying a new Logitech K120 (basic keyboard) every 3-4 months.

Those 'split down the middle' ergo keyboards and most of their other 'ergo' products are rear end, but I've had some insane range issues with Logitech wireless stuff. I have a k400 that doesn't work unless I stand less than 3 feet from my HTPC, and my mother had a mouse that refused to work properly with the rx on the other side of the laptop not 17 inches away and their mice are loud as hell compared to Microsoft's.
Also the 1st gen MS optical with the little taillight on it is still the best mouse I've ever used (except the scroll wheels were kinda lovely on them), and I've never held a controller that feels better than the 360's.

The Z5 has one interesting trait though. It's externally and head-gasket identical to a short B motor (B1-B6) but has a much lighter rotating assembly, so it's been used in conjunction with a B6T head to make some fairly interesting budget race engines.

My father after getting some tires fixed on his rig (company truck mind you) has decided that retorques cost entirely too much (company should be paying for that but he insists on paying his own tire bills) and that he absolutely MUST have a 3/4" torque wrench (company has one at the shop that he could use, but nope he's gotta have his own). Of course, Vern's pizza is a thing around here (it's all over AB/SK/MB) and that's basically 1-1.5" of lovely cold cuts stacked on a mediocre pub-style crust/sauce with about the amount of cheese you'd see on an ordinary pizza. Heartburn city, population: meat sweats.

Soo, the Lexus is legal, mine and in the right city now. Towing a luxobarge 300km on a uhaul car hauler with a 302 Bricknose F150 was interesting. The truck did well, but it spent the whole trip letting us know that it was not happy about it. Headwind hit and we bogged down to around 70k, and every time we stopped it felt like aggravated clutch assault to get moving again. We were legal but I think the GCWR was a little optimistic on this truck.
Rather odd thing happened though, while we were loading the car the truck was on the sidewalk (to get the trailer to just the right spot in the alley to give the car a straight shot) and a blind man happened by and plowed into the driver's door :ohdear:. Nobody involved knew what the gently caress.
Also for some reason after 5 hours on a trailer because I didn't want to drive that distance with that weird/bad noise, during a couple laps around my shop it's not nearly as bad. The only thing I can think of is it's a lot warmer here than it was in Edmonton when I test drove it, but even then :iiam:

Is there a fishing thread somewhere? If there is I can't find it or even locate the subforum a thread like that would be in. I err on the side of caution. I could have probably driven my Lexus the ~200 miles home last weekend but the cost of a Uhaul car trailer is low enough that it just wasn't worth the risk. I'll leave the terrible/broken car road trips to Roadkill, they have more money and less at stake than I do.
