it's a pretty good game but the levels past the crystal one are still pretty rough balance wise, especially 5-3 and the palace levels, since you can get hosed by a bad spawn area.

The Protagonist posted:well now rebel seems really solid to me just from that health boost every level, and i just won't use her ability liberally until i have the supporting mutations to back it up with the right mutations, rebel is practically a better version of melting because your right click turns into an aoe that also spawns allies. you also level up even faster than melting because your allies drop exp when they die. its a good idea to spam it every level for that, its possible to reach level 10 without looping that way.

like, hammerhead is extremely good for survivability, it makes a huge difference for when you spawn in a bullshit area with a dozen enemies shooting you. makes 5-3 way easier too. and its really good with melee. if you use it properly it's top tier imo.

you have to push against the wall for like a second (maybe a bit less) before it kicks in, so it wont trigger by accident
