very sorry to be the one to tell you but intellect is bad, a while back they nerfed it

it used to give you a bonus to any source of super regen (very good), now it only affects your passive super regen and not by much (very bad)

mobility = go faster and jump higher (also be harder to target in pve), also dodge uptime for hunters

resilience = damage reduction, also barricade uptime for titans

restoration = how long until your health regen starts, also rift uptime for warlocks

discipline = any grenade uptime

intellect = passive super regen only

strength = any melee uptime

basically for any class you want high resilience but for hunters you want high mobility as well. all the others you can use various mods like ashes to ashes, grenade kickstart etc to boost your uptime far more than you can with stats

if you want i have a generalist build that boosts all your abilitity uptime and sets up a bunch of 'kill more stuff, get your abilities feeding into each other' loops that i can post. its not super complicated and just passively does its job in the background

ALSO when you get all the chess pieces there is a new puzzle you can use them in which will reward you with some adept (slightly better stats and multiple perks) weapons you can only normally get in the nether

i dont understand higher level chess but i appreciate reddit working out the puzzles!

ok so first of all this forum probably needs a [collapse] tag for people who aint reading all that

also disclaimer this is not an s-tier build, its just a solid low effort one you can save that will probably work with whatever seasonal stuff is going on

acrobat dodge lets you make yourself radiant when you dodge

triple jump is just triple jump

withering blade because you get 2 charges and it lets you slow stuff

hunter prismatic grenade choice is not great but you could always go grapple or swarm i guess (swarm at least debuffs enemies and so triggers your aspects more often)

aspects: gunpowder gamble for a free grenade, winters shroud to turn your dodge into a move that buffs you, debuffs enemies, gives you back ability energy and if you are wearing wormhusk now heals you. stylish executioner might be better than gunpowder gamble but i never really make good use of invisibility

facets: balance (helps with ability regen), dawn (melee makes you radiant and them slow / frozen at a distance), mending (grenades fully heal you), purpose (orbs give you a buff), solitude (free tangles!) and defiance (makes finishers a bit more useful).

equip a primary with an element that matches your super. pick up orbs. thats it really.

but what to wear you ask? welp,

hat: major mobility, ashes to assets (grenade kills increase super), harmonic targetting + harmonic siphon

gives you super energy on grenade kills, makes your primary more accurate + spawn orbs on multikills. orbs are important to this build. always be orbin

arms: minor mobility, grenade kickstart, firepower, harmonic loader

kickstart gives you grenade energy back based on how many orbs you picked up. firepower makes grenades produce orbs. loader makes your primary reload faster

tiddies: concussive dampener, sniper resist, melee resist

concussive dampener reduces way more damage than it says it ut does. so does sniper resist. melee resist is nice but if there is an elemental threat in the activity then replace it with that

shoes: major mobility, better already, absolution, orbs of restoration

better already starts your health regen when you pick up an orb. absolution reduces all your cooldowns when you pick up an orb. resto orbs reduces your lowest cooldown. all round the legs are my favourite part of this build

blanket: major mobility, distribution, bomber, empowered finish
distribution reduces all your cooldowns when you dodge, bomber reduces your grenade when you dodge and empowered finish gives you an armour charge to help with grenade kickstart

recommended exotics - wormhusk (heal on dodge), stompees (makes triple jump so much more fun), star eater scales (orbs supercharge your super) and lucky pants (go nuts with hand cannons)

i think thats it? save it as a loadout and tweak it as necessary but it should help

destiny 2 is a game which is a very fun fps that is unfortunately wrapped in so much impenetrable bullshit it actively makes it difficult to enjoy sometimes

the new player experience is awful. if you can, get someone who is still playing and has been for years to explain everything

they keep changing things that they explain in their weekly newsletter and then just never explain it in game, and keep leaving tooltips in game that refer to the old way of doing it

that said, the setting and lore is crazy good. this season we are fighting the memory of a god who we killed back when he flew here in the hollowed-out corpse of another god. he is here because we killed his boss so hard the explosion remembered him, and he is mad because we are doing all of this at the request of a moon goth who locked the god of war out of his house for blowing up our favourite robot

also the moon goth and ptsd rear end in a top hat have a romance subplot and it is absolutely adorable

sounds fun right? wrong. the seasonal activity (i.e. the way you experience this) is an extraction shooter with no pvp, no health regen, and limited revives. the combination of bonuses on activities mean generally you will be using 1 of 3 loadouts all season if you want to keep up.

the ceo fired all of the qa staff so its buggy as hell but also wants to be clever, so you never know if you can't work out where to go in the exotic mission because its bugged or because the crystal is really well hidden. also one of the upgrades for the exotic is a secret that might spawn in an area you might load into if you click on the exploration mode

in summary: a land of contrasts. go in expecting a confusing disaster and you will probably love it

jokes aside, bobby d is dead on. It's a fantastic, fun, gorgeous game, but if you decide you want X cool thing, or to do any of the puzzles at all, you better use a guide lol

That said, sometimes the grind is worth it, as this thing was my reward for grinding the bejesus out of the Pale Heart, and it's good

The ricochet bullets aren't just random, like they go directly at a nearby enemy. This thing cuts through groups like butter, and it also has practically no recoil / easily correctable recoil

e. also, whoever is in charge of setting relative difficulty of things, and what is and is not part of matchmaking, is very dumb. There's lots of strikes which are fun to do solo and entirely doable, meanwhile some of the intended solo content is absolutely bonkers hard

That video makes me miss the pedestrians have weapons + pedestrian riot codes in GTA 3. We used to enable them and pass the controller when someone died, which was usually pretty quickly and hilariously. It was cool to stand in the back of a pickup and shoot it do the driver started hauling rear end through the chaos of the streets.

Unrelated, man I wish there was a Contra game that was a blend of the controls and some elements of Contra 3 with the boss fights and graphical style of Contra Hard Corps.
Has there been a good Contra since 1994?
Maybe Shattered Soldier is cool...

bobby deluxe have you done dual destiny, and either way would you like to run it together sometime

I hate hate hate that bungie is forcing two players, and also forcing voice comms (I guess text is possible if youre fast, but while fighting giant things and trying to do a puzzle, no thank you). That doesn't do favors for my anxiety, lol

I think this doesn't look too hard, if I just study how to do stuff / where the right spots to be are

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRImKCLA1o8

e. I tried the fireteam finder, I put up an add that was basically "oh god I am new please be nice" and got a bite fast. I then clicked the wrong button (labelled SUMMON FIRETEAM or w/e) and aborted the whole thing, because why would bungie implement a feature properly

I then did this again, and gave up lol

e. better video

i have done dual destiny, and i never want to do it again

timed missions stress me out as does having to communicate under pressure, and also i am terrible at reading analog clocks, all of which fun features made me feel like my brain was collapsing in on itself during that final challenge, partly from cortisol and partly humiliation

i only got through it because my brother wanted to do it and spent months bugging me and it was awful because i was embarrassingly terrible at it, if it had been anyone but him i would have shamequit after my tenth time loving up the callouts and getting us sent back to orbit

'one person fucks up and everyone dies and gets mad at you' is really not a thing i enjoy in games, which is why i dont raid and only do some of the dungeons. if i hadnt been using my cheating warlock getaway artist build there is no way i would have been able to do even the first clock

all of which is to say this is very much a me problem and not a condemnation of the game. normal people love to communicate and don't get overloaded reading a clock and see those things as a fun challenge as opposed to a stressful barrier

it is my understanding that the discord linked in the destiny thread op is cool and nice and incredibly helpful, and you will definitely find someone there who will happily run you through dual destiny and any exotic missions you need

i am sorry, i am terrible at this game i have spent 10 years playing and never shut up about!

the good news is that once you have done it once, the exotics will pop up randomly in pale heart chests so you never have to do it again. unless you want to

If you are coming from any other FPS, I would say: either do the campaign and get the feel that way, or play a bunch of Vanguard -> Onslaught, which is 10 waves of idiots then a big idiot and is dead easy to learn

Also: thank you for setting me straight on intelligence (ha ha) which has lead to an absolute journey of looking through old gear, building out for resistance and recovery, and becoming a lot more durable

and also, looking into what them exotics actually do and I am now running Omnioculus and I am invisible more often than not, lol

oh i'm getting shot at? poof, no i'm not

e. like I am packing Wavesplitter, stacked up with seasonal artifact trace rifle bonuses, and just murdering giant crowds while I go in and out of invis. I just walked through three nightfalls without breaking a sweat, and I don't think I died once in the last one lol

e2. also, I finally got one of the nightfall weapons I didn't have! whee

yeah destiny does get really fun when you start going 'hang on, this gun does arc, and a bunch of my subclass features debuff targets when you deal arc damage, and oh look there is a seasonal perk that sets off a blinding explosion when you kill an arc debuffed target' and then suddenly half the level is either dead or staggering around, that sort of thing

agree fully. also i really enjoy the design and layout of the city in it. just a fun place to explore, drive around in, and do silly mini games in.

i also appreciate that some cars have the burnout 2 boost system as their special ability, both in terms of the reference but also it's just a really fun game mechanic to play around with

ye

i am really digging the new destiny easy dungeon thing and hope they get lots of feedback and data that says making an easier mode that is actually easier is a good idea when your game is dying and not attracting new players despite being free to try

Dr. Yinz Ljubljana

my Destiny 2 replacement game for the past month or so has been Remnant 2 and getting three people together to run the Losumn dungeons is way easier than getting a fireteam together since public users can just jump into my instance without input from me.

it's got some real fun Boss Rush options once you've got your main classes and builds set up. 19 bosses and the final boss is fun as hell but takes forever to complete

Honestly, the game is superb. Enemies are easy to spot, and the movement and feeling of motion are perfect. I'm not really that old but the newer BFs make me feel like an old person. I kind of enjoyed BF1, but those experimental weapons?

Someone should purchase Battlebit and get back to production. The game is more Battlefield than Battlefield but has a unique feeling. The voice chat was on fire in the beginning. It was everything I wanted from a shooter. So sad they left it to die.

I'm gonna have to check both of those out. Battlefield 1942 is my favorite game and the one with the best multiplayer memories :gbsmith:

Everyone liked the Desert Ckmbat mod the most, but the best one imo was Pirates. Forgotten Hope was pretty incredible too and I had to upgrade my video card and RAM to run it. A lot of professional work went into that one.
I also liked Sengoku, Interstate 82, the Norway vs Sweden mod, the miniature kid's room map, the puzzle maps...

It was so fun to have the ability to go to the same server each time so that people became regulars. There was a sense of community that has been lost with matchmaking type gameplay. I met people playing that game that I still talk to today, like 19 years later.
