Nah, keep the vintage sepia. Fixing it takes away from the photo.

I found like 60 old 4x5 negatives of my father and grandparents from when my father was an infant (mid 40's) and some that are slightly larger than 4x5 and won't fit in my negative holder. I haven't scanned them all yet and nothing looks super exciting, but I think it's cool.

You see, one night a fire broke out next door to the Tater Barn. Unfavorable wind conditions managed to start the back of the Tater Barn itself burning. People usually try to get out of burning buildings.

Not at the Tater Barn; after a few minutes of gawking the dedicated alcoholics went back inside and resumed drinking as the firefighters were working to extinguish the back of the building.

Just an update to say that if you look this place up on Google Maps, you'll discover that time is indeed a flat circle

Yeah they are cool. My Grandpa was an interesting dude.

A bit of context for this one:

"Leo" the lion. Grandpa's pet lion he took out hunting occasionally. I posted a B&W photo of it earlier in the thread as a baby but so far this is the only other photo I have found of him.

I asked if he was always kept in that cage and the answer I got was "He was let out when we went hunting." Which kind of sucks. He apparently was sold to someone else fairly early in his life so hopefully he was given some better accommodations.

This particular slide had underexposure and bad color casting so I tried to save it as much as I could. Probably need to give it another go at some point.

NEVER play "Lady of Spain" AGAIN!

I love this thread and everything in it.

My dad did a tour of duty in Vietnam as a medical corpsman and has tons of slides of his time there. I'll have to see if I can get them from him and scan them in.

In the meantime, here's a (less-interesting) photo taken by my mom, of my dad and me, circa 1978. We're on a ferry crossing between Delaware and New York -- it's my favorite photo of me with my dad.

iSheep those look like film stills - amazing.

I have a ton of old family slides from the 50s and 60s. As a kid every few years my Dad would get the projector and screen out and we would have a "slide night" with popcorn. Need to figure out how to digitize them.

Since Dad was the photographer there aren't a ton of pictures of him.

I was never dressed up like that but his haircut is a horror I had to live with for almost 15 years.

Every time my mom brings out the pictures she's all AWW CUTE and I'm all "what the gently caress was wrong with people in the 70's and 80's" :geno:

#1: Holy god that's a great av
#2: Maybe a safety thing if he worked somewhere with machinery, I don't know when clip-on ties came into vogue (I want to say it was invented in like the 40s). That's a stab in the dark though.
