I think the real question is why is ONLY werewolf jones only shown in profile. If every time he changes who he's talking to his face flips back and forth and his eyes bug out and he can only ever be seen from the side it gives him this sense of manic energy, also that he's the only one like this singularly identifies him as wrong, somehow. Owl can see it and everyone else is blind to it. He's literally two dimensional (sex & drugs). He dies of a drug overdose by the end of the year, according to the leaked pages and personal statement that it's based on a real person from the author, simon hanselmann.
