This stage really does make more sense if one just assumes you're knocking the pirates out, despite Fire Emblem not really normally having that as an element of it's gameplay or story very often. So basically saying that is about as useful as just saying it's not canon anyway. I also remember spending some extra time on this stage trying to see if I could actually kill Fargus before getting a game over, and I recall eventually pulling it off. It's been so long I can't remember how I did it.
