512x386 is x2 the native resolution of the game boy advance. 543x399 is something that you shouldn't be doing as it's not an integer multiple and thus looks like blurry rear end. Speaking of blurry rear end, GBA games don't have the resolution or color depth for .jpgs. .png is much crisper and a must for a sprite-based game like this.

Examples!

VBA can record itself losslessly if you need a recording. Not like lossless GBA video should be that large anyway.

480x320 is 2x GBA. 512x384 is 2x DS. And yes, please for the love of god use 2x pngs, those images look awful.

Technical issues aside though, you clearly know your poo poo and I don't think we've had anyone do a ranked/0%/other "gimmick" playthrough on SA yet so this should be pretty interesting. My only worry is that there isn't really a whole lot to say, especially once you get further in the game - always be using your cavs and fliers, don't use expensive items/weapons, and funnel all of your experience into an extremely small core group. Still, FE7's map design is solid enough that there should be things to say about each map so hey, more power to you.

I would have assumed the AI would play smart and have Wire fight last. Realizing that the AI moves bosses first could come in handy elsewhere.

Almost, but not quite. The way it actually works is that the AI moves units in the order that they're loaded in. It just so happens that IntSys always loads in the boss first, so they end up first in the movement queue. You can actually check this at any time, open up the boss's stat screen and hit down, and it'll move to the unit that was loaded in next (and subsequently will move next).

I actually like weight and disliked its removal from Awakening (I didn't play 11 or 12) because after a while it felt like it didn't matter what weapons I was using, everything was just always going to hit. Now, i didn't play on the very hard difficulties there so maybe you eventually stopped seeing straight 100s for hit rate. Having played the GBA games a fair bit, I think Weight has a place in the series, but IntSys just hasn't handled CON for certain units very well, i.e. the female characters. Also Guy. Myrmidons have a base 8 Con, Guy has 5. Why did they think it was a good idea to give him a -3 CON penalty?

FP please, we made weight penalties reduce damage. Do you even know your own drat hack?

Ugh, desert levels. Desert...levels...
They are the worst. It's a grand tradition, isn't it? A level where you just go "screw you, game" and it wants to screw you right back.

...And then I played Awakening and discovered that I had developed Desert Level Stockholm Syndrome, and now felt lonely and disoriented crossing deserts that didn't hate that I was alive. Now my own complaints ring hollow to me.

I had no idea Harken existed for years because I always got the Karel version of the stage.

You can get both on either version of the stage, the conditions are just slightly different. For this one you have to unlock 4 doors before Turn 9 or something to get Karel, and for the other version of the chapter it's based on how many promoted magic users you've killed.

And I think I've created possibly the ultimate BBD strategy. It actually has 0% chance of Zephiel even getting attacked period, let alone killed

Alright, now this I have to see because from what I remember when I did the LP, that fighter gets there on something like Turn 5, and unless you do some ludicrous rescue dropping and dancing, it's just literally too far to go with too many enemies in the way.

Seeing how the whole Bern arc resolves itself, I really don't get how Zephiel turned out the way he did in FE6. And it's not like that was retconned, either, because this game came out after 6 and the devs knew perfectly well what happens later.

The answer is that FE7 really has nothing to do with FE6 at all. Aside from a few "Hey, it's person X! You remember them from FE6 right?" moments (see Hector, Eliwood, Eric), the games are totally standalone, and it's pretty clear that they intended it to be that way from the start. Zephiel is one of the most egregious offenders in this regard, but he's far from the only one.

Hm, well perhaps there are 2 angry Eliwoods or something, because there's definitely an angry Eliwood picture that does show up sometimes- including in that scene. Actually I think there are at least 2 different angry Eliwood portraits that do show up. I commented on one of them in that last chapter's ending actually.

Nope, only one angry Eliwood. It's almost certainly an emulator bug, although as previously mentioned the text thing is probably intentional.

Story is a mess, the art style is pretty unattractive, and there's next to no legitimate difficulty - it's all artificial all the way down.

Not to mention that the map design is awful past the halfway point, there is no middle ground between "can do this blindfolded" and "lol Lunatic bullshit", the pacing is awful, you get absolutely no new recruits outside of the children in the second half (aside from two literally two chapters before the end of game who aren't even that good), Pair Up is the most broken mechanic they've ever introduced... I mean, I could go on if you really wanted to. Awakening is a baaaaad game.

I've been thinking about going back and doing some proofreading, fixing any factual errors, and possibly revising the earlier chapters to have the same standardized format as the later ones among other things. On the other hand, I don't want to annoy people by Lucasing it up.

Pro tip: Do it, then do it again before you ask about archiving, then do it again once baldurk gets you a draft. Once everything is archived, you can't change it without going through baldurk and he already does so much for the forums that you shouldn't bother him over typos. Fix that poo poo before he has to.
