Anima is just as likely to make you extremely long-lived, it seems. But the other really useful school of magic is Staves - they include healing, defense, Teleportation (besides Warp and Rescue, I'm pretty sure all the other teleportation in this game is an offshoot of them).

And on that tangent, staves are a school of magic that every magic user gains access to. Oh one person says they can only be used by the just, but a simple look back at FE6 and it's various evil bishops shows that Serra was just spouting propaganda. Even Nergal is a master of Staff magic, he just doesn't use it because there's no one on his side he sees as worth keeping alive.

It is mentioned at the beginning of the chapter that Louise is the queen's cousin since both are Eturian nobles, presumably from the same house. Louise just married the better guy.

The trouble with that is that Louise was also practically a commoner, or at least low class compared to every other woman trying to marry Pent. He decided on her because she essentially offered to be his bodyguard as well as his wife.

So if Louise's family was so far down the noble pecking order, why was Hellene high enough in it that even the King of Bern couldn't just refuse her?

Vaida vs Heath here is probably just her putting on a show for her men, so as to distance herself from her own history. It'd never work, but no one ever said she was smart.

And this chapter is the only hint we have as to what the tactician was up to in the year between campaigns. Considering Lyn first found them not far from the Sacae/Bern border (Considering how often Bernese bandits drop by) perhaps they were investigating something related to why they were there in the first place.

Yep, tragic irony. Though Zephiel being good isn't really a twist. Guinevere told us he used to be like this, it just seemed unbelievable then.

One theory is that a future assassination attempt gave him slight brain damage, changing his personality. It's a known effect, but I really don't think the writers were deliberately going for that.
