ArclightBorealis posted:And yes, Multi Missiles are pretty great for the reasons you listed. My appreciation for them actually stems from the Arena in Armored Core 2, specifically because of going in with all missile setups and firing a dozen warheads at an AC to jack up their heat gauge and drain their health. Of course, heat didn't exist as a concept in the PS1 games so the damage it poses doesn't get quite as absurd. But for getting around the anit missile defenses, it's a good one to have for sure. Seeing the good old AR-1000 and/or the shoulder-mount chaingun in place of your arm/shoulder energy cannons would be a nice blast from the past, too.

Attack terrorists sounds interesting. Although, that said, gently caress Chrome. Here's hoping you take the good old AR-1000 for an outing at some stage, too.

Seiren posted:In short, they have higher mobility, firing stability, and are mobile with cannons while on the ground. They make good missile platforms, long-range specialists, or hit-and-run style ACs by making use of their innate speed and can outrun many ACs without engaging boosters, saving on energy, and relying on short hops to evade danger. That said, some of the back-mounted cannon weapons are really powerful and being able to fire those while moving is a huge advantage at times. I think my usual loadout in AC1 (for any mission that didn't involve an serious AC fight) was the heavy quad legs that Arc's rocking in those arena videos, plasma cannon and chaingun on the shoulders used as primary weapons, and the dual plasma gun arms for when things had to die NOW. Strafing things with the chaingun is amazingly satisfying, as is overkill with the dual plasma guns.

Oh snap, I had no idea that you could manoeuvre quads like that! Come to think of it, it's probably because I went mad at the idea of being able to run-and-gun with shoulder cannons that I'd weigh my quad down with as many heavy weapons as I could, plus the heavy core for durability. Full speed backpedalling is something I'd never noticed either, but that would make a huge difference dealing with assholes trying to get around to your flank or rear.

quote:I was also about to suggest that perhaps Hustler One was originally a regular but very skilled pilot, who got replaced by an AI and a replica of his AC after he was killed at some point in the timeline (probably long before any of the player characters show up). However, what's been revealed in the last couple of missions/emails seems to exclude this idea.

Count me in for a big thank you as well, AC1 was fun times playing deathmatch against my friends after school, and I still have a PS2 just for the AC games and katamari. I can't say I ever got 'good' at them, though; everything falls to pieces as soon as the game starts throwing overweight/plus ACs at me.
