Well I want to take a moment to showcase Cha-cha. Cha-cha lives at the Kyoto City Zoo.  He looks like he's falling apart because he's 21 years old. That's very old for pandas!  He has a happy life, though. Full blog post here.

I worked at a zoo that had a red panda breeding program. One of the mother red pandas got tired of her baby so she carried it up a tree and dropped it on it's head. They had her on video of mompanda just grabbing the little flufball by the tail and whipping it off the branch and out into the air. At the all staff meeting following the successful surgery to save the baby's life the head of the vetinary group said "I know what you're all wondering. Will the baby be... special. The answer is yes. Though only because it is a red panda and they are all special and wonderful. Other than that it will be normal as far as we can tell".
