BAEST MODE!!!
Welcome to season 18 of the Goonweight GP! We've been on hiatus because starting a season with the last two cards would have been a pretty bad idea. Not that this card is much better but I think everyone has heard of one fighter in every fight, let's pick some fights!

NOW UNDER EVEN NEWER MANAGEMENT

BlueDeanie was forced to step aside due to various scandalsreasons, but as the new head of the PSP Non-Athletic Commission I would like to thank him for his service and for making me the Season 17 champion in exchange for taking this position.

A few days before every card, I'll post the fights on the main card with a FORM and a SPREADSHEET. Fill out the form (or post you picks in the thread), and then check the spreadsheet to make sure your picks are in there correctly. When the card is over and I sober up, I'll calculate the results and post standings, along with a link to the DATABASE that maths everything out. Check the database to make sure it's calculating properly.

:siren: CERTIFIED RULES OF THE GRAND PRIX :siren:

  • Picks can be submitted via the Form, or in the thread, though I prefer you do both.
  • Picks must be submitted before the start of the Main Card to be eligible. Picks submitted after that point are considered null and void. Please pay attention to time zones, especially for European cards.
  • Same goes if you edit a post with picks in it after the main card starts.
  • If you wish to change your picks before the main card starts, make a separate post in the thread and I'll update the Form for you.
  • Points for each match are scored as follows
    • 3 points for picking the winner correctly
    • If you picked the correct winner, 1 bonus point for calling the round the fight finished
    • If you picked the correct winner, 1 bonus point for calling the method of finish (KO or Sub or Decision)
    • A fight that end in decision is not considered ending in a round
    • "OTNs" are given out for correctly picking the Fight, and the two Performances of the Night. These award no points, but are used to break a tie at the end of the season
    • On each card you can pick two POTN. If you pick the same person twice, I'll manually delete one.
  • Commission reserves the right to award no points for a fight based on really weird situations
  • Whoever has the highest combined score at the end of the season wins!

Too confusing? Please consult this handy flowchart to determine your score for a fight:

Here is the current season lineup:

SEASON 18

Upcoming Cards
UFC 184: Rousey vs. Zingano Feb 28, 2015
UFC 185: Pettis vs. dos Anjos Mar 14, 2015
UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. LaFlare Mar 21, 2015
UFC Fight Night: Mendes vs. Lamas Apr 4, 2015
UFC Fight Night: Gonzaga vs. Cro Cop 2 Apr 11, 2015
UFC on Fox: Machida vs. Rockhold Apr 18, 2015
UFC 186: Dillashaw vs. Barão 2 Apr 25, 2015

That's right, a SEVEN CARD SEASON! There's a one week gab between Fox and 186 so it makes more sense to just stick it in this season and give people who miss a card a chance to recover.

UFC Fight Night Maia vs LaFlare

I have tested the form and it seems to work. If it does not work please let me know and I will fix it!

Be warned my twitter is really annoying so maybe don't follow me on twitter.

If I can't get the form to work I'll enter it manually or bother Lone Goat. I'll probably figure it out though. Of course after doing this I find no matter what I do I can't format this in the post. Ignore the rankings for now and just focus on the points, tiebreakers should be figured out by the time the next form is up in a few days. The RNG was the biggest loser of this event but even the RNG managed 4 points! Actual human beings got at least 8 so good for you human beings!

I'll have it all figured out for the next card!

When there's too many POTN's, I just manually changed people's picks in the database to match the winners.

For instance, in this card (requires archives?) (wiki), there were 4 POTNs and no FOTN. In the database, I entered Mousasi and Dollaway as the POTN winners, and then manually changed any Cedenblad/Backstrom picks to Mousasi/Dolloway and highlighted them in orange so people could see what I did.

As for formatting the posts, you have to use the [ pre ] [ /pre ] format to get them to show tabs properly, but it still needs some fiddling. The data entry is incredibly fussy sometimes, so I made some tutorial videos for Bluedeanie explaining how to handle it. I'll PM them to you.

Yeah I sent him those videos as well. I had a few problems with otns both with people entering them correctly but them not tallying properly and with events that featured an odd number of bonuses. My solution was to just ignore the form'a number and commit to tallying them manually if there was a tie, which didn't happen under me and to my knowledge has not happened yet at all.

That... shouldn't happen. I hope I didn't give you an old version of the database that was back from when there was KOTN/SOTN. The last one I used with POTNs was smart enough to not care what column each person's name was in.

That is, if POTN1 was fighterA and POTN2 was fighterB, then it should still score the point if A was in the 2 column.

MassRafTer if you're having the same problem let me know and I'll have a look at the formulae.

Those upsets threw pretty much everyone for a loop. Barely anyone had RDA winning and only a few more picked Joanna. Dr. Pancakes came in first and everyone is pretty tightly compressed in here so the season is wide open. Even the goons under the RNG have a chance at the title. Completely ignore OTNs right now. I fixed them for the first event but screwed up this week. I think only two people got them so it will be an easy fix.
