Just watching the Adelaide highlights - Betts got the ball over the back, kicked at goal under pressure, and it went straight through the middle as he slid into the goal post. Except it hit the goal umpire just over the line and bounced back onto the field, and what I can only assume was an apprentice metro primary schools umpire called that it wasn't a goal, and was instead play on with the Kangaroos rebounding.

The only way I would like to see Port make the GF is if they were on the end of another hammering that broke their 119 record. I don't bandwagon other teams, when the Crows are done for the season I pretty much am as well.

There's a red (and a green, blue and yellow) button on the Foxtel remote control which is used to activate multi channel stuff, most commonly for 6 Premier League games on one channel. Last year they started offering team-oriented alternative AFL commentary, and that game was the best ever example.

Diet Crack posted:Honestly though, it's probably a thing to do with cricket being an all day event where musical instruments wouldn't really gently caress your spectatorship of the sport. I don't get it personally, but I'd be kind of pissed off if someone was blasting a trumpet in my ear at the footy. They banned musical instruments at Adelaide Oval years ago, and it basically took people getting lovely with them not letting the Barrmy Army trumpeter into the ground with his trumpet for them to take one step back and allow approved instruments in on a case by case basis. Steel drums and bongos on the Clem Hill hill were great during a game, back before and just after they put up the Chappell stands and the Clem Hill stand

hiddenmovement posted:To take it from the other point of view, who's to say that we aren't excluding people from other cultures feeling like they can come to the footy by preventing them from being able to enjoy sport in a way they can relate to? What if the overly strict rules which dampen crowd participation are actively keeping away cultural groups that really enjoy that sort of thing? Everyone in, everyone sits, everyone claps, everyone cheers politely at a middle volume, everyone gets up at half time to buy a venue snack and a non alcoholic drink, everyone returns to their seats, everyone claps, everyone cheers politely at a middle volume, everyone applauds bboth teams and the umpires at the end of the game, everyone queues to buy one item of Playcorp merchandise, everyone files out of the venue in an orderly fashion. The AFL dream as envisioned and currently being enacted by a HR department. Alcohol, excessive noise, non-regulation cheers, any aggression, these are things that could lead to an incident and a lawsuit, and a PR campaign against them from the Family Morality Organisation for Moral Families. Yes because I was totally talking about bringing back racism, and not that stewards and police will come and give you a warning if you shout loudly or swear, and you weren't at all being pretentious. It is possible to stamp out racism, sexism and alcohol fueled violence without also stamping out vocal and passionate support, which seems to be flying out the door with them.

Adelaide have lost Brad Crouch for 2 months with a broken foot. So this will be another wasted season for him, and he's already a player I didn't think would get anywhere near the hype inflamed when we spent big draft picks to get him.

Got home from Ikea just in time to see pick 12 fly by; took over, then just before I selected Cooney, while desperately trying to boost someone else above him in my wishlist, Adam internet cut out for 10 minutes, so by the time I got my phone off wifi and logged in that one was gone. Then the time desynched and it auto selected a 4th ruckman for me while I was trying to take Langdon as a back. This is going to take some doing to salvage, since the stupid machine also burned my third pick on Brad Crouch, who is out for a good 6 rounds.
