This show was so fuckin good. I hate a lot of shoujo tropes, but for some reason I can't get enough of the "calling by first name and blushing" thing so this episode sealed the deal for AOTY (not that it was much of a contest before). I liked pretty much every character which is almost impossible in shoujo stories (except Oda still being shown as a stalker-ish pestering guy at the end, c'mon bro). A solid recommendation for anime newcomers everywhere, right alongside Cowboy Bebop. Now make Chihayafuru 3 please.

I think the Suna story that happened right before cake guy would have been a better end point for the show, but it was a lovely series until the very end. I'll take one new season of Chihayafuru now, please.

This was heartwarming, extremely competent and magically suave in the way it handled both confrontation (the bane of the genre) and character development. It reminded me of Kimi ni Todoke, I found this one much better though..<3 Sad to read that there is not enough material for an S2 (and that it did not sell well, which was regrettably predictable). I'll read the manga.
