Just capped off the finale after a 3 day binge. Loved it. Definitely a slow burn to get through, but drat was it good. Stoked for rest of Marvel's Netflix endeavors. Also, I was expecting Rosario Dawson to be in way more episodes... maybe she'll be more prominent in the Luke Cage series?

I think Daredevil's ponytail mask is waay better looking than his devil mask, but I am comforted by the fact that Ironfist'll have a similar ponytail mask.

The proto-bandanna mask with the upgraded suit would have been sweet.

I enjoy how she went from being rescued by Daredevil, to being rescued by Foggy, to saving herself from Wesley.

She saved herself from being strangled while in custody before being saved by Daredevil. Karen Page = boss.

Theatrical or director's cut?

I really liked that version of Matt and Bullseye, but otherwise yeah it wasn't that great, aside from giving the world Evanescence's Bring Me To Life, an unironically really cool song despite what everyone says.

Director's. I think this is the 2nd time I've watched it. The child actor who played young Matt loving blows.

I love the little disbelieving glance Wesley gives down and then back up after the first bullet hits.

There's something about the sped up framerate that makes it funnier, oddly enough.

I did, too. Mostly because "Daredevil" as a name implies a disposition that's way less central to this version of the character. A daredevil is someone who's an adrenaline junkie, who takes risks because they're invigorated by them, or who lives dangerously because they're impulsive.

Which, I suppose, isn't *untrue* of Matt Murdock...but this is a pretty joyless take on the character. He's a suffering Catholic martyr who approaches vigilantism as a necessary evil. As yet, he's not really yelling "woo!" as he leaps off rooftops. He's getting stabbed in an alley trying to keep children from sex traffickers.

It's implied that the cop at the end saw Murdock doing crazy parkour poo poo up a scaffolding after subduing Fisk while asking what he should call him. It then cuts to the media coining the name Daredevil. I thought it was pretty clear why he was given a superhero name. The press/media coined the name Iron Man too.

Yeah jesus, holy poo poo. That fight to close out the premiere was goddamn amazing.

[edit] Welp, I'm wide awake now. That opener got my blood going. Good poo poo, time to binge I guess. Popcorn at 3AM :3:

Alright. Almost 6AM. Time for food then Episode 5. poo poo. So far this has topped the poo poo out of Season 1 for me.

The first 4 episode Punisher narrative arc made a real nice mini-movie. So. loving. Good.

I took a break from watching after episode 6 to watch my Street Fighter ESPORTS. I don't read Daredevil comics... how accurate is the portrayal of Eletrka? I like how batshit psycho she is. Is she like that in the comics?

Finale: Before the rooftop fight, did anyone else totally think that Frank was gonna minigun a crapload of ninjas instead of just snipe a few?

Me I thought this. The camera lingering on the mini-gun totally made me think Frank was gonna go all Terminator 2 on that group of ninjas just before Matt and Elektra took on them on the rooftop.

Finished season thoughts: the first 6 episodes really made a strong impression on me, but the following 7 episodes were a mix of highs and lows and the finale was alright. Still, it was a really loving good follow up. This show is for sure my favorite thing to come out of Marvel Studios, easily. JJ and these 2 seasons of DD are more my poo poo than their cinematic universe ventures. I've no interest in Luke Cage though... more so looking forward to Iron Fist and seeing more of Jon Bernthal's Punisher because holy poo poo he's perfect :allears:
