First game with my tier 3 DD

full speed lateral movement vs a BB 7k away. I launch my torps and he fires his first volley.

All of his shots hit and I ded in 1 volley. 1st shot of the game

You can with torps. It's like the French autoloaders except even better. You get in, launch the torps where they will be, and get out. You don't even need to be in their LOS if you get it right.

Open seas is another matter.

They need to implement it so that the closer you release your torps from the bombers, the higher the chance that they get completely wiped out.

When IJN bombers came up against US Navy BBs, it was basically a death sentence within 100m.

They should just make everyone go manual on the bombers and decide when they should release.

Tier 6 INJ destroyer sucks stock.

I went from 3 torpedo launchers with 30 sec reload to 2 with like a minutes reload.

to be fair its the same amount of torpedoes, just now 3 per launcher.

It's just that its such a slow reload...i feel like a cruiser

It's still a pain playing IJN DDs

Although their concealment is crazy. 6km detection basically means i can slip through most maps and right to the CVs, that + smoke is almost a guaranteed carrier kill or two

It's hard to have even more speed and be realistic. For example the Farragut in real life had around 36 knots at half speed.

More realistic I think is if they upgraded the concealment to balance it out, at least to have the detection range at something like 4-5k instead of 6.

Of course I expect to take on an equal tier battleship one on one. We are in the same matchmaking bracket, and in theory destroyers are supposed to counter battleships. Battleships certainly counter cruisers.

NTRabbit is fairly consistently wrong about most things but it's painfully obvious that the ship classes aren't balanced.

I don't know if destroyers were ever suppose to counter battleships. Ship classes aren't suppose to be balanced 1v1v1, and you should never be expecting to 1v1 a battleship unless his turret is facing away from you or you got the jump on him.

Protip: If you're in a cruiser (ala Cleveland) and you're up against another cruiser, AIM FOR THEIR GUNS.

I was dueling Cleveland vs Cleveland and he was 5k away, I systematically took out all his turrets and he couldn't fire at all. I was pretty much taking a turret every volley.

AP of course, you should never be using HE

Made it to Tier 6 IJN destroyers before I couldn't anymore. Pretty much surface submarines as the guns are useless unless you're not turning at all and moving at 5 knots.

Starting to go down the USN destroyer path, might be better. I realized that after that many games on a destroyer, high range torps are pretty much useless vs. anyone competent, and that if you're channel mining it's pretty much down to luck and not fun since it's a 1:20 reload time.
