Cool, I was hoping someone would make this thread.Super Aggro Crag posted:I also stack copper pennies. Any US Penny prior to 1982 is 95% copper. They made both in 1982. When I was working on my US cent collection I used a really simple scale like this to sort: https://youtu.be/dxhATdQVXbg?t=1m23s Here's a good and complete collection of Lincoln cents: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn1I06d_7lk Not the easiest coin to find.

If the coins are just sitting somewhere it doesn't matter really but they'll slowly get worse if they're being handled.

Turbinosamente posted:Edit: Speaking of gold bullion what is the hot pattern these days? Most of the posting I saw was lusting over St. Gaudens and maybe the Maple Leaf. Has the Krugerrands popularity finally declined as the go to for gold stacking? Seems like it's based on the location. People in the UK saying "I should've just bought sovereigns." Or in the US "I should've bought more buffaloes." Older buyers prefer eagles rather than buffaloes from what I've heard. IIRC the newer maple leaf is harder to counterfeit than the others. I'm interested to see how high gold goes this year.

meat police posted:On the record I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist, but gold & silver valuation has always seemed suspect. Naturally holding onto something you see value in will have a certain bias, but there's no way recent developments would only have a +$200 increase in gold after how many years? Yeah, there are some out there that think gold/silver could both increase a lot in the coming years. The USD is still doing well compared to many currencies around the world though.
