That WOFF almost made me want to pick up Modern Warfare, which is much closer than any other piece of video game media has gotten me so good job on that.

I did pick up Modern Warfare because of the episode of WOFF, I'm playing through it at a relaxed pace and enjoying it.

Also I'm not planning on buying a PS4, so I'll use BFSC as my main method of experiencing Bloodborne. Also today at work I had to assure a Sony rep that we sold out of Bloodborne on the first day at my store, we didn't just forget to stock it.

Episode 100 can only go two ways. Either Gary and Kole:
a) Finally play Banjo-Kazooie, love it, and realise that the item collecting works really well and encourage exploration of fantastically designed levels
b) Finally gently caress, on a bed scattered with copies of House of Leaves

I would find option B less offensive.

My guess is Fallout:Brotherhood of Steel, with Chris Avellone.

I'd rather keep it private for a couple of reasons:

1. It stops being useful if people see it as a way of publicly trolling or communicating.

2. I don't want someone to see that a game they want to suggest is already on the list, and then not suggest it. If they have some good comments to add, those will come along with multiple suggestions.

The Suggest a Game stuff is weird. The Abject Suffering form is pretty legit and chill. People don't gently caress around. But the WOFF! form occasionally gets people suggesting we play "my dick". And right now, someone is filling it with titles of the grossest erotic visual novels that Japan has to offer (like "Ultimate Boob Wars" and "Harem Party"). It's funny, but annoying because I have to spend real time administering that list.

I'm the guy who stuffed like 100 games into the Abject Suffering suggestion box, and even I think that suggesting porno games would be in bad taste.

I played Shadow Tower with a map open the entire time, and checked an FAQ if I got stuck, but otherwise had a lot of fun with it. If you like puzzling out the basic mechanics of a game, it's full of awesome "a-ha!" moments.

A post over in The Dark Id's Drakengard 3 thread in the LP forum introduced me to the Hyperbolic Game Chamber podcast ( https://hyperbolicgamechamber.wordpress.com/ ), and I really like what I've heard of it. It's focused entirely on the stories in video games, and how ridiculous they get. The first episode is about Drakengard, and it's a great place to start, as is the episode where the hosts take a giant poo poo on Dante's Inferno, or the one where Jared gets really enthusiastic about the story mode in Mortal Kombat 9.

They seem pretty new to podcasting in general, and there are some audio issues, but it's also one of the only shows where the hosts are actually in the same room.

Unless I'm just missing something, it would be pretty cool if they set up an actual podcast feed.

https://hyperbolicgamechamber.wordpress.com/feed/ works, although it's missing the first 8 episodes. They talk about their struggles trying to figure out how rss works in one of the episodes.

I hope that if you guys like Zone of the Enders, you play the second one next year. ZoE is very good, but 2nd Runner is probably the best action game on PS2 that wasn't made by Hideki Kamiya or Shinji Mikami.

You can probably skip the GBA strategy RPG. It's not Abject Suffering bad, but it's really easy, and anime as hell in that bland overly-wordy way.

Chip & Ironicus did something like anime Abject Suffering a while ago, though it was talking over the episodes rather than podcasting after watching them. It was pretty successful, but I think it was just one guy with an encyclopedic knowledge of badime feeding them suggestions. I don't know if the greater corpus of bad anime has a lot more stuff like this or if it's mostly just boring or objectionable.

The guy feeding Chip & Ironicus anime was Zorak, the mod of ADTRW at the time. You really need someone with that level of anime knowledge to find the right level of bad.

I love anime, but I got sick of anime podcasts years ago because so much of it is incredibly bland, especially if you watch anime for 10+ years. I've basically accepted that I probably won't bother watching more than one or two new shows a year. Also I think I outgrew listening to the kind of people who do anime podcasts.

Legend of Galactic Heroes is legitimately really, really good. It might be the only sci-fi series I've seen where the ship battles make some logical sense (not just space dogfighting). Fist of the North Star is cool too, I just started a rewatch, but it's definitely a show for people who are already fans of the genre.

edit: I used to go out of my way to watch lovely new anime, but then I watched about 1.5 episodes of a show where little girls turn into airplanes and stand in one place shooting lasers at lovely cg aliens and decided I had enough of that. Ridiculous 80s/90s shows about robots and cussing will never stop being funny.

It's definitely a case of porn being cheap, mass produced garbage that's rapidly consumed and thrown away and there isn't any equivalent of pornographic video games in the West so translated eroge is a market with practically no competitors. Actually when flash games were taking off in the early aughts you couldn't move your house one pixel on Newgrounds without seeing a porn game. I don't know what the community is like now but with some artists specializing in pornographic animations of established properties I can't imagine it's very different.

Another part of the problem is "missing the big picture" because VNs are both incredibly broad by genre and distribution but we see maybe 1% of that. There are small, tight knit communities devoted to creating, sharing, and playing VNs that never get any mainstream attention. Mobile is becoming the big new platform which is totally perfect for menu driven systems. And even console companies are finding new footing. Last year NIS' president jokingly said that if Disgaea 5 didn't sell well (they were predicting 150,000 sales) they'd have to close their doors. Aaand Disgaea 5 ended up selling like 1/6 of their projection. In the interim they had released like 50 VNs in the West and less than a month after Disgaea 5's poor performance they reported that localizing VN's was their next business model.

It's a pretty good time to be a weeaboo I'd say.

As long as it's more stuff like Dangan Ronpa and less stuff like My Girlfriend is the President, it doesn't sound so bad.

Hedgehogs are known for their ability to suck their own dicks. It's how a younger, thinner Ron Jeremy earned the nickname "the hedgehog" back in the 70s.

I am not sure how or why I know that.

I've been working through Okami for the last year or two, and while I really like it, it's a game where I don't feel bad picking it up and playing another 5-10 hours every couple months. I could not imagine playing all of it in a short period of time.

Regardless of what one thinks of the Witness puzzles, playing it with a walkthrough in hand is an absolutely terrible idea. I'm not exaggerating that you might as well not play the game at all if you are going to do that.

Please tell me this is just a general statement you're making because a lot of podcasts are talking about the Witness, and not something an actual professional or even amateur video game critic is doing.
