Tiffany's version of "I Saw Her Standing There". It once came on the radio and the DJ thought it was so bad he stopped playing it and apologised, which is the only time I've ever heard that happen.

Anyway, are live covers fair game? If so, enjoy Katy Perry trying to sing "Don't Stop Me Now".

Jerry garcia's I Saw Her Standing There is pretty sucky too. It makes you realize how lovely the song is but the Beatles were still able to pull it off.

I'm surprised at all the Pomplemoose hate. They're fun and quirky and they're out there trying something new. I say give them a chance. I think it's pretty incredible that 2 people can make that much music, surprised they haven't been in commercials and stuff.

I dunno, I think they pretty much define "adorkable" for the the youtube generation. You should give them another try.

I know you're joking around but it's really not helpful. Pamplemoose has become one of my favorite bands and I don't think they get the respect they deserve. I wish they'd do more James Brown covers.

There are a thousand indie bands that do what they do better than they do.

Yeah but could they do that James Brown cover? I rest my case. Pamplemoose has "it".

precision posted:

And ten thousand that don't do what they do at all because what they do is, to paraphrase Eno, "Music For Targets".

I could definately get into shopping at Target with Pomplamouse on my headphones. Awesome idea for the weekend.

I really didn't need to know that there is such a thing in this world as a joke steampunk band (at least I hope they're joking? I can't even tell)

I think they're like street performers or something.

Daft Punk makes dumb disco music. They're KC and the Sunshine Band for a new generation. Hell, I appreciate that steampunk giraffe is out there trying to make a living as musicians/street buskers with absolutely zero singing ability. They have half the talent and all of the gender dysmorphia of your average youtube ukulele cover song dude but they can afford smoke machines so they're doing something right.

God yes. Especially since the original is such a fantastic pop song.

George Michael is criminally under appreciated, at least by straight people

"Fantastic" pop songs don't sound as dated as Faith. The hand claps in the background haven't aged well.

That's what I thought at first but after doing the east coast leg of their tour last year it's absolutely not true. The way they mix up their setlists is amazing, it's like the kind of poo poo the disco biscuits used to do. They do a ton of poo poo for the people on tour, teasing songs or not finishing songs, and busting them out the next night or over 3 nights. Shakedown street is really chill, people look out for each other and the cops were cool. And the band was out in the lot before every show and they'd literally eat/smoke anything fans gave them. The only thing I can compare the scene to is like Ween shows in the 90's. Maybe phish in the 80's or something but phish was huge by the time I saw them so I don't know. Can't wait for summer tour it's going to rage.

Pomplamoose shows are full of people on LSD?

Dude it was crazy. The girl singer smoked so much DMT in the lot before a show in Utica I think that she sang the first set sitting down. And only kinda sang. They were playing a back to back Born To Run first set and James Gang Greatest Hits second set but it was half way through Backstreets before I figured out what they were playing. First set was rough. But there were really only a couple of shows where the band was too hosed up to play. Crowd was always on 100% lube tho. Not really a drinking crowd cause most of the kids were underage. Lots of nitrous, pharmies and poo poo like deemsters though.
