The truly brilliant thing about the Wild Bill Hickock costume is that, when putting it on, the Doctor examines, then discards the gunbelt. In Night of the Doctor, he takes Cass's gun belt and puts it on.

I mean, that's one possibility. The other option is that the Master's egotism makes them get along perfectly - which I'm pretty sure was a plot point in The End of Time, or else was mentioned in The Writer's Tale.

I meant within the Big Finish context, and more specifically between parts 2 and 3.

All of the Nyssa/Tegan/Turlough stories had been pretty good so far, and in particular the two before this one. And this story even makes it an hour or so before collapsing up its own rear end and topping it off with an ending only Joseph Lidster could love. Och, that's a contender for sure.

what the gently caress is up with your opinions, attitude indicator? curse of fenric is "perf", as the kids today say.

huge loving swathes got cut from Fenric, like a whole episode's worth of material. Ghost Light got hit even worse. And yet they're still fantastic. You just gotta detach yourself and take an abstracted, metaphorical reading, like you do with a lot of Cartmel-era stuff. Understand that there are LAYERS of subtext going on.

# ¿ Apr 24, 2015 20:12 |

Fenric isn't a dud in any case. But it's better on a rewatch, with full attention and a critical eye and behind-the-scenes knowledge.

The main issue with Charlie's characterization is that it changes exactly once: during Scherzo. But very few people, unfortunately, can follow Rob Shearman, and Philip Martin is far, far away from even being close to that level of talent, so it all kinda goes to poo poo.
