Are there any details available in the wider world about how Big Finish's Doctor Who licence works with the BBC financially? Do they pay a lump sum for the rights to use the characters, or does the BBC take a cut of Big Finish profits?

River audios sound cool. I'd rather they just went ahead and had her meet the classic Doctors, though, that sounds like it would be funny and fun. They might have to do a little continuity wangling to manage it but it's Doctor Who, that kind of thing happens all the time.

I think the 8th Doctor, being a kind of bridge between Classic and New Who, is the perfect one to introduce River Song to the Big Finish audios with.

I've recently been really enjoying the vibe of 60s Who and the whole feel of that B&W Sci-Fi era. Can anyone recommend any other series, preferably British ones, that capture a similar vibe at all please?

Added The Prisoner and Quatermass to my to-watch list! Thanks all, those look exactly like the kind of thing I was looking for.

I've said this before, but get the Blu-Ray if you can. It's scary how good that looks, easily one of the best remasters I've ever seen.

Distressingly I'm enough of a broke luddite that I don't have anything in the house that plays Blu-Rays.

EDIT - Has anyone seen the Blu Ray version of Spearhead from Space? How is it?

I find pretty much all the Pertwee stories that go beyond 4 parts a massive drag.

Excellently dodgy CGI on that Sea Serpent/Dragon thing.

i can't wait for the bbc to cancel this just before its release again

its interesting that they are releasing it, the rumour circulating was that they had pushed it back because they might have found the other two episodes: but I'm guessing that they'd have said if they had found them rather than just listing the DVD as ready for release. Honestly its a little expensive at that price for two episodes and two reconstructions - especially if they are tele snaps like the Web of Fear one has - I know that its the only classic episode returned and not publicly released, but even then I still think that its a little steep...

IIRC the releases of Enemy of the World and Web of Fear were at pretty steep prices when they were first released. I'm happy to wait till this goes down to 6.99-7.99 like they did as there's plenty of Classic Who I've not seen that I can keep myself occupied with in the interim.

It's also unique in having the only perfect first season.

I adore the first season of the Third Doctor, every story he has is either a classic or a gem.

The Ambassadors of Death? Perfect? I found it pretty tedious.

I'm starting work on a new Big Finish guide for the Series 9/Season 35 thread. Apart from the following, what should be mentioned?

-Monthly range
-The Lost Stories
-The Fourth Doctor Adventures
-The New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield
-The Eight Doctor Adventures/Dark Eyes/Doom Coalition
-The Companion Chronicles
-The Early Adventures
-The New Series

Could probably be condensed. Do people entirely new to Big Finish really need to know about Bernice Summerfield?
