I personally use the rimage systems dupe towers (4 dvd drives) and they work really well. They're self contained, which means they ship with a windows OS or server OS depending on your need. They're quick on the phone and if the tower goes bad they just overnight (via freight) a new one. They've really grown up from a stack of (firewire!!) DVD drives to a fully fleshed out workhorse.

From a technical standpoint, they have a really good SDK and scripting kit and while we tailored the gently caress outta ours i'm sure you'll be able to script your workflow onto it.

For reference my 4 bay machine cost me 15 grand, but that included a 3 year warranty.

Also, do not try to build one of these yourself. gently caress that.
