Human Revolution was cool and good.

e-

quote:

Google translate:

Square Enix has announced the continuation of the famous cyberpunk series Deus Ex. The new part was subtitled Mankind Divided, it will tell us about how the future society was divided into castes augmented and ordinary people. In the middle of the action will be our old friend Adam Jensen - the protagonist of the game.

As in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the events unfold in different parts of the world. For example, in Prague, Czech Republic, Jensen will have to sort things out with Victor Marchenko - an officer in the so-called Coalition of Human augmented (Augmented Rights Coalition).

The choice offers two styles of play: "quiet" passage and open battle. Artificial intelligence of enemies became better than Deus Ex: Human Revolution , play, respectively, will be more difficult. Enemies travel in groups and if suspected something was wrong, summoned colleagues together to explore the dark corners. No more single dummy.

In an open battle Jensen also have hard times: opponents bypass with flank attack of the entire group. Also at your disposal will go more useful implants. Now, Adam can not only see enemies through walls, but also scan them for electronics and ammunition. Hacker will allow the implant to hack turrets and computers at a distance (as in the Watch Dogs ).

Do you remember the blade in the hands of Jensen? In Mankind Divided is a lethal weapon will receive an alternative type of attack - Adam learned to shoot a crossbow as a blade. Fans of "noisy" passing too will be satisfied: Jensen blinds enemies smokescreen and with the help of X-ray vision shoots them from an automatic rifle.

For protection from enemy fire can be briefly activated nano-shield and then bullets will bounce off the chest of Adam. In general, mechanical augmentations of Human Revolution remained untouched, but the amount of improvement has increased markedly.

The plot of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided remains a mystery. Developers do not plan to migrate from a previous save of the series - solutions Human Revolution players will not have consequences, and none of the four endings Human Revolution will not canonical.

For this reason, we have to say goodbye to some of their favorite characters, including and ( spoiler! ) pilot Farid Malik. In one of the missions of Deus Ex: Human Revolution Farida plane was shot down on approach to the landing. Life charming pilot was in the hands of players: could repulse enemy offensive and save Malik or throw it to die at the crash site. In Deus Ex: Mankind Divided on the job we will deliver new pilot - Elias check.

Developers do not plan to transfer stored from the previous part of the series - solutions Human Revolution players will not have consequences, and none of the four endings Human Revolution is not canonical.

The developers promise that additional work will have an impact on the gameplay. For example, if Adam decides to cross the road bandits in the beginning of the game, then later one of the crime bosses can considerably spoil the blood of the main character, set on a group of bandits in the next story mission.

Game development studio is engaged in Eidos Montreal. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Release date will be announced later.

Some people got let go, but the only real huge departure was the studio head, who left cuz he thought that Square was too conservative and gutless.

Most of the key people like Mary DeMarle, Dave Anfossi, and Jonathan Jacques-Belletete are apparently still in place.

If you look at Dark Souls 2 versus Bloodborne, Bloodborne has a ton more detail, more objects, and generally just looks more atmospheric.

I'm pretty happy that they're using a more modern engine now. I loved HR's art direction (even stuff like the small heads, which I only really noticed in the prerendered cutscenes anyways) but it looked pretty distinctively last-gen in a lot of areas, even when cranked up on PC. The NPCs in particular always stand out from the environment a bit too much, and their shading looks strangely flat and have that plastic phong-shading sheen to them. It wasn't bad looking by any stretch, just a tad dated and clearly restricted by the hardware.

Speaking of the hardware, they'll have a lot more console RAM to work with now, which hopefully means much larger levels. Anyone who's played Invisible War or The Conspiracy knows how much RAM allowance can make a difference in the level design of this series, so let's hope they take advantage of that and make stuff on par with Liberty Island's size and complexity.

I also wonder if the larger development budget will mean a wider variety of dialogue animations, and maybe even ones where the characters don't fidget like they just chugged a pot of coffee.

The dude in that stream is apparently Alex DeLarge, considering how he reacts every time they blast classical music through the speakers. I think they implied at one point that he was also a victim of the signal near the end of HR? And he also very clearly died at the end of the last vote, got dragged around by an unknowing guard trying to give him food (the guard then started enthusiastically rubbing his boot in the food saying "I HOPE YOU LIKE EXTRA SEASONING" and laughing in the corniest accent this side of In Da Fresh, this seriously feels like it's going to break into kinky porn whenever they have actual spoken dialogue), but then the dude "wakes up" after the guard leaves and starts gobbling up the food. One of their torture methods was also forcing him to squat with a pole under his knees, which he fucks up quick at first but then manages to hold it for literal hours.

My guess is there might be some early nanomachines fuckery happening here, which makes me optimistic for how much closer MD will get to DX1. I also get creepy surveillance/audience participation themes from this, which might be cool to explore if they go that route in-game.

Human Revolution was probably one of my favorite games of the last ten years or so. I love FPS games that go beyond generic FPS poo poo, so that and Mirror's Edge always stood out for me. Thank god developers are finally just committing to current gen though; I can't imagine how beautiful this is going to look on PC and consoles. Literally all they really have to do is capitalize on the director's cut changes and go bigger on everything.

If you want to play it NOW, you could totally just play it.

You don't HAVE to get the DirectorCut, but it changes a little and makes it more satisfying. it'll be on sale for $3-$5 in another month or two, so you can totally hold off until then. Keep an eye out:

I like how it integrates the dlc, and makes the boss fights a little more interesting. I played both.

Director's Cut fixes the one lovely thing that the original HR had, which was the boss battles. Director's Cut revamps them to make it possible for all builds to engage the bosses so if you don't want a lesson in extreme frustration, I'd recommend upgrading to the Cut (which also re-integrates stuff like a DLC mission and a variety of other fixes/rebalances.)

Yeah, I was reading that it fixes the bosses so you have more options for dealing with them. Considering I like to (try) to be stealthy that first boss was no loving fun on my original playthrough.

I'm just confused because apparently Director's Cut is supposed to be like 10$ if you own original + missing link but it still seems to be full price for me.

My bad, I remembered the signal affecting more than just the nearby areas so I figured it was within the realm of plausibility that the Czech Republic might be affected, and I swear I heard some classical along with the folk but I guess I'm just a big dumb. Still, he does mention a signal and coming to with blood on his hands after talking about having nothing left in his life, though I can't remember what order he even says that poo poo in because I was like one-quarter awake at that point. Might mean some other folks are using similar techniques to Darrow to their own ends, though, idk I just want more Day Of Sex.

Full combat run is going to be loving awesome in this.

Some more info apparently from the new Game Informer:

quote:

-Takes place in 2029, 2 years after Human Revolution
-Listed as single-player, no mention of multiplayer
-Jensen is part of a covert, goverment-sponsored task force called Task Force 29, a new bracnh of Interpol, to combat a new breed of terrorism
-Jensen doesn't full trust Task Force 29, also feeds intel to another covert organization called the Juggernaut Collective
-In true Deus Ex fashion, you often receive conflicting missions, neither can be fully trusted
-Boss encounters are designed in a way to allow players to approach any way they want (stealth, full combat, etc)
-Eidos won't comment on which ending it considers canon but is trying to string together different parts of each ending for the overall background of Mankind Divided
-Story is in many ways a story of redemption for Jensen
-The story they're telling is building to events that take place in the original Deus Ex
-With Mankind Divided, they're exploring the original game's past; "Is the depiction of past events from the original Deus Ex true? Will we discover stuff we never knew?"
-Added a lot of diversity to the environments
-Females are also now part of the regular enemies in the game
-One of Jensen's missions takes him to Utulek Station in Prague, now a ghetto for augmented individuals
-It is nicknamed "Golem City", based on the real life Kowloon Walled City
-Shops line the streets, temporary housing units stacked on one another reaching upwards toward the sky; claustrophobic atmosphere
-Mission to track down a leader of an aug group, but police have captured the informant
-Can choose to butter up the informant's wife for clues or cause a scene with the police
-Alternatively Jensen can bypass this area of the game altogether and find the leader's hideout on his own
-Mentions Jensen engaging in tense conversation with the leader, resulting in a diplomatic solution or violence
-Transhumans (augs) referred to as "clanks" by police
-"You can go full combat or full stealth throughout any part of the game"
-Side quests meant to be more meaningful; ex. players can choose to make deals with criminal organizations and its mob boss might call in a favor later interrupting main missions
-Doesn't want fetch quests, the team sees the extra quests as a way to explore the main themes of the game more deeply
-Features twice as many augmentations as Human Revolution
-Aug examples:
Tesla: little darts pop out of Jensen's knuckles allowing him to tag enemies and take them out quietly
Silent Run: Allows Jensen to move quickly across any floor without making a sound (can combine with cloaking)
C.A.S.I.E.: Allows Jensen to analyze the mental state of individuals, helping him to respond adequately in conversations
PEPS Gun: Non-lethal weapon that pops out of Jensen's bionic arm and fires a concussive blast allowing him to knock an enemy out, kill him or flee
-Augmentation features can be assigned on the d-pad for quick selection
-Augmentations consume a fixed amount of energy, when Jensen stops using them he regains a portion of it
-Can still refill his augs completely with bio cells, Eidos wants the recharge mechanic to encourage using augs more liberally
-New remote hack augmentation allows Jensen to activate shortcuts through areas to pass enemies
-No plan for Human Revolution saves to carry over, but Eidos is planning for a franchise now, want to expand further after HR's success
-No plans for a Deus Ex MMO
-Eidos noted fans who played stealthily enjoyed the game more so spent several years iterating on gunplay
-Mankind Divided's moment-to-moment action plays out like a series of set-piece moments, a 'remarkable feat' considering nothing is scripted
-Jensen can adjust his weapons at any point mid-battle, changing ammo type, firing pattern, scopes, etc
-Some enemies have external tech like exoskeletons and mechs to combat Jensen
-Variety of enemies have a diversity of weapons, augments, or other high-tech combat tools, some have high-jump abilities, etc
-Focused on making A.I. more aggressive, flanking, etc
-Certain elements of the environment now react to combat

They didn't have that great of AI, what they had was great and very reactionary verbosity. If you were to take out their barks, they'd be pretty indistinguishable from other decent games' enemies.

DeathChicken

Nonsense. I have not yet begun to defile myself.

Nothing to do with their barks (although those were great too). The grunts in that game will coordinate themselves in such a way that they work to try and flank you depending on what you're doing at the moment. One of them will be laying down covering fire while others are creeping around from cover to cover and getting behind you. It's why holding still in cover isn't really practical in that game, since the enemies do not like rushing at you to die, unlike every other shooter under the sun. You'll wind up with enemies in your grill while you were paying attention to the guys in front of you.

And then it all winds up kind of mitigated by the overpowered bullet time mechanic, but still.
