GRRM is the next Robert Jordan, and thank god for the TV show because it will eventually end and also has reigned in a lot of the dumber poo poo from the books. There's still some stuff missing that they either haven't covered or maybe (hopefully) are going to leave out. Compared to the show, the books loving suck. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just trying to be  about the fact that they can tolerate reading thousands of pages of bullshit. If you read the books underway, that's [my] an excuse.

I said what I said as someone who read and generally enjoyed the books, I just think the show is that much better. The only subplot that I'm currently wondering about is the other Targaryen kid, and zombie Catelyn. Also whether or not Jon Snow is a worg that gets trapped in a direwolf's body when that little idiot kid eventually shoots him with an arrow like he did the wildling chick. spoiler alert
