Looking forward to seeing how you handle one of the recurring mid-bosses (the one that always comes in pairs, if I recall). I played this a while back and couldn't find a single approach to them that didn't result in me getting dunked. Didn't know about the special attack, though.

Oh, that video was a one off, but I sympathize and do have a solution.

If you mean the goat enemies with several arms that knock you out of the air, the trick is to stand just out of their reach, and leap well above their head before you do your downward stab. It helps to lure them onto separate planes so they can't attack you at the same time, first. Same goes with the guys with hammers. And an extra note: if big dual enemies charge at you, pressing down both attack and jump at the same time performs a knockback move that should push them away. Hope this helps! If all else fails, keep in mind that Tyris has a much faster reaction time than the other characters.

Yeah, those were the ones. Maybe I'll have to give the game another shot now.

So how do you balance it for two players? Well, give them two bosses to fight obviously.

I don't think any other game has ever done that.

Hey, they did the censorship thing again. Those enemies that jump in from the side are women in the Japanese game. The 90s were a hell of a time, huh?

Also, "I skipped ahead because the stage was too long and repetitive" sums up this particular game better than anything else you could possibly say.

Some thoughts on that last Final Fight 2 video:

Does the NA version block access to the last stage if you aren't on the hardest difficulty? JP version doesn't do that. That and the censored women enemies really make it a product of its time if that's the case.

I always thought timers in arcade games weren't really there to challenge the player, but just to keep up regular rotation. Like if someone just left the machine, it would eventually time out and go back to attract mode. Final Fight 2 not being an arcade game would have just had this as a matter of course.

Maybe the game is really that good. I should get around to it sometime.

Seconding that Ninja Warriors Again is extremely good and also play the JP version (censored women again, only instead of respriting them they just removed them entirely).
