Now that would be real sticky mess. Be like glue on everything.

About the term ''to big for just a gallon jug'',, we can't appreciate the power

with just a gallon jug, that is for pipsqueak cases like 308s..

And our case won't make a good show on to big a jug, like 55 gallon barrel of water,

That video is the early German WW1 13mm anti-tank gun, a cartridge that was the forerunner and

the equivalent of the 50 bmg. Soon was obsolete as the early tanks added armor.

To me a ''tank gun'' is 37mm and bigger. Big blasters that use

a suppressor like this.Ed

Ed, if I were to somehow come into possession of this break action Beretta, would it be a suitable candidate for .585 HE conversion?

Guys have got few deer and hogs with them also.

Yes that Beretta would be fine for our cases. Nice gun...

If done in 585HE cost a bunch more money to set up

a jump over extractor, which is why most of our guys are doing

our rimmed 24ga FH in break actions, which can get 85-90% of the

energy our 585 gets in break action. As we can't load 585HE full tilt

bolt action pressures in break actions....Ed

So the more economical big bore single shot conversion would be a 24ga FH for a break action shotgun, rather than .585HE? And the difference is about 10-15% difference in muzzle energy?

So what if it only makes 850,000 ft-lb of muzzle energy instead of one million?

Yes the 24ga FH is more economical to build in most break actions,

,cases cost about the same as 585s, uses same 585" bullets and minie bullets,

and only loses 10-15% of the energy of a 585 in a break action,

Now if we get a bolt gun at same economical price as a break action, which Enfields are,

then it is cheaper to do the bolt action, as the work to thread a barrel into an already threaded

bolt action, is much, much less lathe work than threading a barrel into a mono block

that we have to thread for a break action. to put the barrel in.Ed

Yes it just has to be 1914 or 1917 like in that auction.

But our guys here got them sporterized for $250 for the action

ready to put the barrel in, with port lengthened and receiver contoured,

and we put them in heavy stock to match our heavy barrel.

We have a package for whole deal with labor, barrel, cases and dies.

Yes a 585" bore barrel could be put in a NEF to make a 24ga FH.

Both 585HE and 24 ga same bore

Some have been done in NEFs by guys already.

But we like the fancier, stronger SS12 break action pictured above open,

and they can be had as economical as NEFs..

The Anzio 20mm necked to 50cal is a shortened version.

Bob Snapp made a full length version for a company to test light armor, 45 years ago..

Much hairier. Ed
