A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. . . . STAR WARS The Galaxy is at peace! The Clone Wars have ended bringing the bloody conflict to the end. The Republic, pulled by the strings of wizards, is no more and the GALACTIC EMPIRE has replace it. To solidify his hold, Emperor Palpatine has issued Letters of Marque to various entrepreneurs to subjugate various sectors for the glory of the Empire with the ultimate prize: Ruling the sector. Out there, beyond the Core Worlds into the periphery of the galaxy lies one thing, and one thing only: Profit. You and your loyal cadre have gathered together to conquer a sector. Nominally in the name of the Emperor, but ultimately to you. There are many paths to conquering the sector, military, trade, or diplomatic. How you utilize them is up to you, the Privateer. Still, you need a ship, and you need to gather up henchmen who will do all the menial tasks that will be beneath you. Once done, destiny shall await you. _______________________________________ Welcome to FFG Star Wars Edge of the Empire This is a campaign focusing on you being privateers in vein of Rogue Trader. You have a ship under your command and a crew that is loyal. Your goal is to become the greatest privateer that has ever been seen in the Star Wars galaxy. Can you handle this task? If not, perhaps turning into an actual pirate and eliciting the response of the Imperial Navy might be more daring. For character creation, standard rules apply but you will have a base ten starting Obligation only. No Jedis! Force sensitive specialization is fine. Species selection is open to all (The Unofficial Species Menagerie is acceptable). The tone of the campaign is to mirror a typical Rogue Trader adventure with slapstick and seriousness abound. I am looking for six men to be the core crew. After character creation, give yourself 120 experience points to spend as to demonstrate your rise into being a privateer. Please note, this extra XP can’t be spent on characteristics. You have 5000 credits to spend on your character. To aid you in character creation: Here's a Character Generator program Recruitment will last until May 4th. If you want to contact me, my skype is Ramba_Ral87, you can visit #sweote or #acolyte on irc.synirc.net and ask. Ramba Ral fucked around with this message at 16:30 on Apr 24, 2015 |

Octavius Ryan - Commander/CommodoreBackground posted:The third son of an Inner Core noble family, Octavius Ryan followed family tradition into the Republic Navy. His aristocratic raising served him well, preparing him for the physical, mental, and political struggles of the ostensibly-apolitical Navy. Ryan advanced quickly through the ranks during the Clone Wars, and seemed destined for bigger and better things. This promising future came to an abrupt end when Ryan ran afoul of his superior, Rear Admiral Starbrno, an officer as skilled at politics as he was inept at actual command. Unable to get rid of the young Captain Ryan outright, Starbrno took advantage of the chaos of the transition from the Republic Navy to the Imperial Navy, as well as the Emperor's new initiative, to see Ryan banished to the Outer Rim, far from the political power and prestige inherent in the fleets of the Inner Core. quote:Arfus Kroad Arfus Kroad was always intelligent, and that is never a good sign in a Hutt enforcer. Intelligence bred ambition, Lorgo Hutt knew that, but he was also convinced that anyone could be controlled, with the proper leverage. Arfus was given training, money, and rank, and shared in the circle of trust that included Lorgo's best, and most dangerous, officers, and for a time, he was content. Eventually, however, promotions stopped coming an simple payouts from the crime lord lost their luster. One day, Arfus was approached by Orin Killikus, one of Lorgo's highest lieutenants; Orin offered Arfus a chance to join in a coup against his crime lord, to take over the Elrood syndicate and share the profits between the coup leadership. Orin spoke his part well, and Arfus was convinced; he rigged the Hutt stronghold's defenses to turn against Lorgo's loyalists, to cut off their communications and movements while the conspiracy did away with Lorgo. The plan was flawless, except for a detail that never occurred to Arfus; Orin was a double agent. Lorgo's loyalists destroyed the coup, leaving few survivors, Arfus among them, while Orin became Lorgo's right hand, representing him in all business. Arfus swore revenge that very day, but knew it would have to wait; the Hutt would doubtlessly send killers after him, and it would take time and a lot of money to rebuild his shattered life. fool of sound fucked around with this message at 17:13 on May 27, 2015 |

Jian the Accountant Character Sheet Background Jian had born a slave, in the service of a Trandoshan Gang Boss. His childhood was one of pain and shame, he was beaten daily and by the time he was mature, his body was a network of scars. He was not idle though. He watched and learned the true source of the Trandoshan's power. It was not strength of arms or inspiring charisma, but credits. He waited and planned for several years, learning where the credits were hidden and who had been bribed. The day finally came, he learned that a relatively large bribe was being prepared for an important separatist official. He managed to break out, overpower the guards and made off with the cash hours before its as suppose to be handed off. He crisscrossed the galaxy, evading the battles that raged in the Clone Wars, Peace eventually descended, and now it was time to make some money. Captain Ioka, self-made businessjawa and Jawa extraordinaire The Imperial captain stared down at the robed figure in annoyance. "You cannot be the captain, this delivery was supposed to come by an Imperially Registered merchant ship, and I can guarantee that... you... and that ship... do not hold an Imperial Warrant. You, droid, ask him how he got the cargo." The last is snapped at the tarnished protocol droid standing at the Jawas side. A brief moment later, after the officers comments are translated into a strange rapid jabbering, and the hooded figure in turn jabbers back at the droid, the translator turns to face the captain again. "My esteemed master, the grand and honorable Captain Ioka, merchant and trader extraordinaire, head of his clan, trader of the People, says to you that he rescued the cargo from a ship which had become wrecked at the entrance of the asteroid field. It was by pure luck that he stumbled across it and recognized it for it's obvious importance. He boarded the ship, discovered where it was to go, gathered the cargo, and traveled here post haste. This has, of course, delayed his normal shipping route considerably, and understands that it would only be so polite for you to reward him for making this delivery a priority." The droid gestures it's metal hands magnanimously as the officer glares. "Found where it was going... this is a secret base! The directions here weren't even stored in the nav computer! How did you..." A tic forms at the corner of one eyebrow as the officer struggles to control his anger. "Obviously somebody breached protocol and wrote down where this base was. Not your fault. But this will cause some issue. Obviously you will need to stay here for now, your ship impounded, until we can decide what needs to be done. And we need a new merchant under contract for supplies..." Even as he speaks, the tarnished droid quietly translates to his owner, who jabbers back loudly, waving his hands. "My master wishes to say that there is no problem. The coordinates were not written down, the crew of the wrecked ship was alive. They... subcontracted our ship to make the delivery. Indeed, they were quite forceful about it being made immediately." The captain stops his musing and stares at the Jawa in confusion, looking back towards the docked ship, still being unloaded, and then to the diminutive alien again. "But... where is the crew? Captain Mayer?" A brief translation later, the droid looks back and makes an apologetic gesture. "We understood their earnest desire to make the timely delivery, but their attempt at force could not be tolerated. The crew were left onboard their wreck to await for rescue to be sent. Unfortunately, their life support was inoperable, and we did not have the parts to spare for it's repair, so unless somebody else was passing by, it's unlikely that they are still alive. My master is sorry about that, but business, and delivery, must come before all else, and anything that threatens his business is not to be tolerated. That said, since we now appear to hold the contract for delivery to this station, he would appreciate if you would be so kind as to make payment so that we may leave immediately. He would hate to have to activate the security measures that he placed in some of the cargo containers your crew just unloaded..." chin up everything sucks fucked around with this message at 06:04 on Apr 27, 2015 |

Allison McCallon in her more mundane dreams Calm. Humble. Patient. These are not words used to describe Allison "OH poo poo EVERYTHING IS ON FIRE AND EXPLODING WHAT DID YOU DO NOW" McCallon. Hotheaded, prone to solving problems with explosives, and maybe a little bit of a pyromaniac. There is one thing for sure though, if you keep giving her explosives, heavy weapons, and a target to use them on then she will be your best friend forever. Both a penchant for using risky explosives and a mercenary sense of loyalty (paid in explosions) are valuable qualities for the recent upsurge of "privateer" forces, and she quickly found herself hired on after the clone wars ended. Recently however, the company she was with had decided to "settle down" (which included "storing" all the equipment that was "company property") and so she is on the lookout for new employment. Fortunately the stupid bastards overlooked the repair shop that had her repeater she took a loan out to repair. That thing was her baby the moment she laid eyes on it. At least, it was certainly hers now taking into account the rest of the stuff she lost. Maybe there's an enterprising startup somewhere that can help provide the kind of boom boom boom a girl like her needs. And with better compensation terms. Paying off her loan wouldn't hurt either. Faddo Grizbain, Mercenary/Revolutionary On The Run After the declaration of the Empire following the Clone Wars, Imperial troops occupied Naboo and the Gungan Grand Army was ordered to be disbanded in order to eliminate any threat to Imperial power there. Fearing possible enslavement, the Gungan people abandoned their arms and went back into semi-seclusion - imposing harsh penalties on those who refused to comply. Faddo Grizbain was a decorated war hero, having served with General Jar Jar as a youth, and came from a long line of military men. Bring a patriot, he refused to willingly return to civilian life - instead banding together with other Gungan veterans to start a guerrilla campaign for Naboo liberation. Despite modest success, in the end the so-called 'Gungan Liberation Army' was largely decimated in an Imperial Ambush 6 years ago with support from the fearful and cowardly Gungan High Council. Declared a criminal for breaking the anti-military laws and taking up arms against the Empire - putting the 'freedom' of the Gungan people at risk - Grizbain was forced to flee to the stars and take up work as a mercenary for hire to pay the bills... at least until he could secure the means to return home and finish what he started. Dalul Vals - Quarren Gunslinger/Pilot "Whaddya mean I can't shoot that guy? He's breaking the law, and theres"... Dalul closes his mouth and looks around... "There's not anyone out here who I can hurt if I miss. Why can't I just shoot him and be done with it. He's obviously alone, and obviously a criminal. Look, there he goes again, drunkenly driving his drat speeder into a house." A large crash is heard over the comm. "And...yes...he's driving off. So I'm going to shoot him before he hurts anyone else, and if you want to stop me you can send a squad of stormies here to get..... No I'm not giving you my name, why would I? Look, I've had enough, and you're not going to help at all so". Over the commlink, the young Civilian Defense Force operator hears the squelch as a pair of blasters are received from a leather holster, and the sound of them firing two, three, four times in quick succession. Then he heard a *thud* as the commlink hits the ground. Its amazing how fast the sounds of the weapons were made. Barely, Dalul's voice get sent through the comm. "There, he's dead, and he won't hurt nobody anymore. Looks like you don't have to come out at all, now." It wasn't until he was on his ship fleeing the planet did he realize that justice in the universe wasn't as forgiving as it was on Mon Calamari.

Krussk, Trandoshan Medic A bright student that tutored under a well-known physician and trained under a Huttese bodyguard, Krussk bucks the trend of Trandoshans being nothing but bloodthirsty hunters focused solely on gaining Jagaanath to please the Scorekeeper and personal gain of wealth, fame, and reputation. He is also interested in keeping people alive long enough to brag about his exploits later and, possibly, pay him for his efforts, as well as the in-depth study of anatomy and xeno-biology, which even he admits is partly so he knows where to better stick the pointy end of his weapon to cause maximum death and/or pain. The trandoshan finds himself addicted to the thrill of combat, throwing himself into the thick of things and swinging his weapon around with hapless abandon, which is often at odds to his oath to do no harm. Luckily, trandoshans are not known lawyers, and Krussk wholly believes the oath only applies to those who are not immediately trying to kill him. Due to his skill in medicine, he has found himself not only a valuable addition to any team's security force, but to their medical staff as well.

Made the character, will figure out details and a name later. I'm going for the closest thing to an Inquisitor the ship might have. If they have the authorization of the Emperor to go off and bring places into the fold of the Empire. Then I figure they have someone on board who can sense out the force and report back on any force users or hidden jedi. He's also decent as the ship's Ace pilot I'll probably pick up at some point if the game goes on long enough. Ship Inquisitor

Rheinhallt is going to be the best snubfighter pilot in the galaxy! Someday. Once he's made enough money to buy his own fighter. Which is unfortunate and delays the asencion of the best and brightest ace there ever was. The squib applied for the Imperial Flight Academy, but in spite of his exemplary flying skills and silver tongue, they just wouldn't make an exception to their humans-only policy. Funnily enough, mercenary companies aren't looking for squib pilots, either. They keep yammering on about being too short to reach the controls, or not having any kind of pilot certification, and that's not even touching on the speciesist stereotyping. So for now, Rhein contents himself with studying the exploits of the great barnstormers and the aces of the Empire, burying himself deep in his sims - entirely for training purposes, of course. He works sales for this merchant concern these days - nothing in the galaxy haggles better than a squib, after all. But as intellectually rewarding as badgering down a disgruntled arms dealer on half a crate of blaster focal lenses can be, it's not the glamorous, dangerous life of a pilot. No matter where he is or what he's doing, Rhein's heart is always in an ejector seat.

Gault Rennow, Devaronian Bounty Hunter Gault is in trouble. Not only has he taken down the wrong target due to bad intel and bad luck, but he took down a favored entertainer of one Kragga the Hutt. And this, compounded with not having the correct license in the Corporate Sector and forgetting to pay his guild dues, is also on top of the fact that he doesn't have any licenses for his gear or his ship. Gault is in deep, deep, DEEP trouble. But Hutts are business-oriented. They smell desperation, and it makes them salivate. Desperate people, people put over a barrel, are really bad negotiators. They want the fines out from over their head. They want to have things forgiven, forgotten, and paid for so they don't end up with a massive bounty over their head that'll bring every two-bit thug with a blaster down on top of them, and they certainly don't want to sit in an Imperial prison for years and years. And that is exactly how Gault found himself where he is. He, a Devaronian with prestige, wit, and charm, and some of the best gear this side of Arkanian sector (he'd know, he shopped there and he stole some ideas there), stuck slumming it on board a trade cruiser, making money for the Hutt cartels and very little for himself. At least it beat having a huge bounty on his head; that's the sort of thing you can't live down, even if it IS just a crime lord's bounty and not an official one.

Zelda Stardust, a LOOSE CANNON who GETS RESULTS that's OUT FOR REVENGE Ever since the Empire took over, Zeltros has been one big, crazy party. That's nothing new, but now it's a crazy party full of Imperial military personnel on leave. Bar fights rose 300% (mostly over women), and liberal amounts of semi-official graft allowed meant the police force grew to compensate. That meant loosening the restrictions on candidate screening, which meant it was finally time for the planet's toughest cop to finally make detective. Things were good -- great -- for years. Then Jarrosk Thesk started strangling club girls. She had the evidence: witnesses and surveillance that said he was the last with them, even a partial print and some fragmented DNA. But there are laws that apply to the powerful, and laws that don't. Her captain told her to back off. And try as she might, not even the toughest cop on Zeltros could touch an Imperial Captain. She couldn't forget the failure, and it showed. One too many complaints, one too many screwups, and it was badge-and-gun time. Good thing the guns were hers -- she'd need them when she shot the man down like a dog. Thesk is out there, lording his power over some dirtball, so that's where Zelda Stardust is going. Somewhere up in the stars is enough power or enough money to buy her 5 minutes and some privacy.

This has been a very, very difficult decision for me. I know I originally said six, but there were some strong applications and figured since this is a game that is Rogue Trader in scale, it wouldn’t hurt to add in one more person. Sorry for those that didn't get picked, but it was hard decision to make. Now, let's get on with being space Pirates! Welcome Rogue Traders. Before we go to pick a ship, here is the crew manifest: Lord-Captain - Ioka played by FireSight First Officer - Octavius Ryan played by Sniper4625 Master Helmsmen - Dalul Vals played by MustascheRide Master of Ordnance - Allison McCallon played by Kylra Chief Chiurgeon - Krussk played by John Dyne Enginseer Prime - Arfus Kroad played by fool_of_sound High Factorum - Jian the Accountant played by Mechayahiko Poor, poor Ioka, he waited a long time to receive his pay for bringing in his dutiful cargo, but the doors open up when an armed escort of stormtroopers bring in a protocol droid. He doesn't even bother to introduce himself. Still, it seems to be a bearer of bad news: "Hello, I am N7D9, I am sorry to say this, but for the Lord-Captain's ship. There was a Jedi found amongst the crew. The Imperials at the docking bay with the help of an Inquisitor were able to subdue him and also eradicate the entire crew to ensure there would be no further taint of those false wizards. The Imperials proceeded to destroy the ship turning into scrap. It was the only way to be sure that the Jedi was dead. I am once again sorry to say your ship is no more. Now, harboring a Jedi warrants immediate death; however, you have been spared due to holding an Imperial Warrant of Trade. Due to the fact that only upstanding Imperial citizens can hold the Warrant and it can only be issued by Our Beloved Emperor, we are willing to fully reimburse you 12 million credits to use to purchase a new ship and outfit your new crew. May you bring Glory to the Empire!" For purchasing a ship, any and all ships found in the official rulebooks are game. I assume you'll want the Dreadnought Heavy Class Cruiser which goes for 7,200,000 credits, but you might want to use it to purchase something else for a different kind of adventure like colony founding, exploring, or trading. Don't forget to name your ship or I'll be picking the Star Princess by default. Once you have the ship set up completed. You can purchase weapons, items, and armor to outfit your crew. So for example, you want to buy a standard clothing for your men at 50 credits for the whole ship. The Dreadnought has a various crew population but we'll assume you are going 15,000 for both troops and regular crewmen so you times 15,000 by 50 for 750,000 cost. It'll be used to determine during Mass Battles if they occur since it is based on crew training and equipment. Don't forget, you can also buy armored vehicles as well for ground stuff. Have fun! Game thread will be posted once we have a ship and crew outfitted and you guys are ready to explore!
