Alexeythegreat posted:In any case, I actually think that we will eventually get a proper conclusion (or another set of sequels, why the heck not *_*), although not in this decade I long ago gave up my hopes for a proper conclusion. Tony Jay is gone, the original devs have moved on, and the IP is currently being used for an MMO. It's dead, Jim. I like your spoiler policy, BTW. It's hard to discuss anything in this series without having to, eventually, discuss literally everything else. I'm totally itching to discuss my pet theory about what the point of the main yet-unresolved plot point of the series was, but I won't. I am an unrepentant LoK fanboy, but I hated the poo poo out of Blood Omen 2. The obviously missed plothole aside (how how how did they miss it!?) I really didn't appreciate the inclusion of one of the characters, and what the inclusion of said character meant with regards to the writers familiarity with the IP (IE: pathetically little). You mentioned in one of the videos that we don't really see the alternate forms in later games, but this isn't entirely the case. Bat-form and another form we'll get later return in the Kain sections of Defiance (as abilities, not full forms), and the jumping abilities of the Wolf appear in Blood Omen 2 and Defiance. It really is too bad that we never get an explanation for the spirit forges or the blood fountains, though I guess you could use them as evidence supporting some of the plot of the later games. In regards to Nupraptor's corruption of the Circle, I would argue that while most of them are not outright bugfuck nuts, they are all fairly unhinged. It's more that they are no longer able to effectively perform their duties, hence the Pillars have called for a reset. Gah, we need to be further in so that I can talk about more stuff.

DukeofCA posted:The hatboxes in this game are wildly inconsistent. Despite my love of the lore, atmosphere, and voice acting, it's one of the main things that makes it difficult to enjoy playing through it. That and the clunky menus. Took me a minute to figure out that you meant "hitboxes".

Yeah, it's super mega ultra spoilers to say anything about the Soul Reaver other than that it could totally kill Malek, and that while Vorador's sword looks like the Reaver, it isn't the Reaver, and there is nothing special about it that would help him kill Malek. It is a mystery why he could do it while Kain could not. Anyway, we have the Reaver now, meaning that the best part of the game is coming up. The defining moment for Kain's character, that is responsible for literally every choice that he makes from that point forward. I can't wait.

KieranWalker posted:As for soothing vs. boring, I found it soothing--but then, I find watching any LP to be oddly soothing for some reason. I have all of them. Beat Blood Omen, got half-way through Soul Reaver 1 (it's the Morrowind of the series, honestly, in terms of "this is awesome, but where the gently caress do I go now?", beat Soul Reaver 2, got to a certain point in Blood Omen 2 where I just said "gently caress this game forever", and beat Defiance. BO1 will forever be my favorite because, as great as some of his lines in later games are (the edge of the coin conversation, oh my god) Simon Templeman's delivery in this game is so incredibly over the top that I have to smile everytime he says something.

I'd forgotten about Tony Jay trying to do slightly different voices for the villagers. Holy poo poo that was funny as hell. ![]()

Yeah, even after this game is done we still can't really talk about poo poo. There's big things that we can't really discuss until at least the end of SR2. And immediately after that BO2 has what is in my opinion the biggest WTF plot point in the series. I really, really hate that plot point.

So, just watched The Battle... I recall that transition being much, much better. Huh.

Alexeythegreat posted:It is supposed to be better (although it is just as confusing), I just can't find the cutscene for some reason (my game doesn't play the cutscenes at all, I have had to edit them into the videos and hope that I didn't gently caress it up) I forgot about that. You've done a pretty good job then. With regards to the hilariously out of place armor, I imagine that was part of what Moebius supplied to William, as part of the plan. One thing I'd like people to keep in mind is "Where and When in Nosgoth is the Soul Reaver?". It gets around quite a bit throughout the series. So now's as good a time as any to begin. 20 Years prior to the Murder of Ariel: William, armed with the Soul Reaver, is murdered by Kain; the Soul Reaver is broken. 30 Years after the Murder of Ariel: Kain finds the Soul Reaver in Avernus Cathedral. So, we already have a mystery on our hands! We don't know how the Soul Reaver gets to Avernus, but we know that by the time it gets there it is no longer broken. We also don't know where Moebius got his copy of the Soul Reaver to give to William, but presumably it was snatched from somewhere else in the timeline. I'd like, by the end of the series, to have a complete timeline for the Soul Reaver.

Alexeythegreat posted:I think that this will have to be more like a spreadsheet or multiple parallel timelines, considering that there are multiple temporal distortions in the series And we've already had the first change happen, so Alpha timeline is already dead, but I can't properly go into what the original timeline looked like for a good long while. Legacy of Kain: To explain one thing, I have to explain everything. Alternately, Everything is a metaphore for everything else.

Well poo poo. I was afraid something like that might happen. Are you emulating the PS version or running the PC version? Have you tried recording the game window with OBS? This is basically the extent of the help I've got for you.
