Really awesome to see this. The Legacy of Kain is one of my favorite series. I've played through all the games several times, even the less than stellar Blood Omen 2, and the story and voice acting really grip me every time.

I kind of enjoy BO2 in a guilty pleasure sort of way, glitchy and badly written as it is. At least Simon Templeman doesn't phone it in and gives 110%.

Dodging the traps in Malek's Bastion isn't helped by the fact that Kain's walking speed can best be described as "casual stroll".

The damage to health ratio of Kain and the enemies never occurred to me until now, but looking back it makes a good deal of sense. Also, Vorador's Mansion is one of my favorite locations atmospherically, not counting a later, optional area. It also has some interesting information on content that was cut from it during development.

The hitboxes in this game are wildly inconsistent. Despite my love of the lore, atmosphere, and voice acting, it's one of the main things that makes it difficult to enjoy playing through it. That and the clunky menus. Edit: Autocorrect ![]() DukeofCA fucked around with this message at 08:07 on Aug 12, 2015 |

I dont know posted:I remember on the playstation version entering the pause menu took up to a minute to load with 15-30 seconds or so for each sub menu. It was one of the big reasons I stopped playing it as a kid. I've never had times quite that bad, but even 10 seconds is excruciating when you're constantly entering the menus to switch weapons/armor and spells.

I really like the Lost City. Besides being a treasure trove of items, it's large and mysterious and its' purpose is unexplained. Who built it? Why is it linked to the full moon? What's with all the snake imagery? In regards to the entrance being in the same location as the Abyss, Amy Hennig (head writer for Soul Reaver 1, 2, and Defiance) said that there was a connection between the Abyss and the Lost City, but sadly she never elaborated on it.

It's fair to say that everything that happens in Blood Omen is unintentional foreshadowing, since the series went in a different direction than what Silicon Knights originally intended. It's still nice to see the callbacks from later games, like with Uschtenheim, Nupraptor's Retreat, and some later locations.

Especially given it's never explained how Vorador managed to kill an animated suit of armor.

As much as a fan as I am of Tony Jay, they should've had anyone else voice William. Tony would've been fine for after he becomes the Nemesis, but not the "Boy King".

Now that the game is over, I thought it'd be cool to share a neat little secret. Back in 2010, a group of Russian programmers attempting to create a 3D remake of Blood Omen discovered a hidden area in the game while investigating the code. The area is the pirate ship HMCS Bitter, and is accessed by a blocked off hidden room from a tavern in Vasserbund. The area is more or less complete with no indication given as to why the developers decided to prevent access. More info and pictures here: http://thelostworlds.net/BO1/HMCS_Bitter.html
