ChaosArgate posted:Pretty sure Otacon doesn't have an alternate costume? I read somewhere that Otacon and Meryl get new costumes if you beat their endings with the tuxedo, I never tried it myself so I'm not sure if it's true, but I'll try them both at some point. Considering the bullshit I'm doing offscreen to set up for MGS2, this isn't anything major EDIT: Apparently Meryl's other outfit is only in Twin Snakes, and Otacon has no other costume at all, it's just one of those things that immortalizes as truth, like how you could TOTALLY tranq Ocelot after talking to Ames and get his dogtags, you just have to be fast. Oh snap good thing I wasn't planning on monetizing these Bizarrely enough, the two scenes it didn't like were the scene where Snake is in the SDV, and the part where he talks to Octopus right after the sepia-toned flyaround of REX. The rest was fine apparently

Speaking of the drinking game, I've updated the second post with a description of the drinks involved, and I'll be keeping it updated as we go along. We're also going to stick with the normal rules for the next session, but plan to introduce thread decided conditions later on. So far I have a bad feeling about it considering what's already been suggested.

Let's Play Metal Gear Solid Episode 2 - Tumbling Down Fun facts for this episode: -If you do manage to beat the combat segment with Meryl unarmed, Snake automatically scoots over to the socom and picks it up. Also note that Meryl shits on us later for being a gunless dumbass when we met -When Baker mentions Jim, he's referring to Jim Houseman, the secretary of defense. You may remember him as the total prick who's technically leading the mission, despite his only active input being sending a plane to nuke you. -The line Ocelot was saying before I shot him in the rear end was "I love to reload during a battle, There's nothing like the feeling of slamming a long silver bullet into a well greased chamber". If it weren't for the torture fetish and the implied rapes, Ocelot would easily be my favourite character. -You can call Campbell after speaking to Meryl and tell him she's okay. He's super relieved. I did it off screen between episodes though, so whoops.

And he claims he's telling us everything he knows. chitoryu12 posted:Well, Liquid was always supposed to have a really lovely idea of genes. He's basically basing his entire world view and evil plot on having no clue how science works and I guess nobody having the balls to tell him that he read the book upside-down. If you smoke while standing near lasers, the smoke refracts the beams and makes them temporarily visible (this is used much more in Metal Gear 1 and 2, and the MGS Game Boy game). Also, iirc, don't they also calm your nerves in sniper mode a little, but not as much as the pills? I remember them being SUPER useful in MGS4 because taking a smoke break did wonders for Snake's psyche. I don't remember the cigar having any use in MGS3 aside from leeches.

Let's Play Metal Gear Solid Episode 3 - Drunk Canadian History Here's the episode where I look like a light weight, and everyone realizes I'm actually really bad at Metal Gear Fun facts for this episode: -Raven is Inuit. loving durr. -Sioux actually does mean "Little Snake" or "Treacherous Snake". Raven is actually really smart and most of the poo poo he says is true, despite being cryptic and wierd. -I got grenades last episode, but then fell down a pit and forgot to go get them again. -If you see me running around like an rear end in a top hat after an alert, I'm trying to take my drink without pausing because that's lame. -We both have the maturity of a first grader, and as such will be giggling every time Deepthroat is mentioned. -Meryl tells us exactly where the Nikita is, but we were STILL giggling about the name "Deepthroat" Danaru fucked around with this message at 16:59 on May 6, 2015 |

With that said, it was also the most cutscene heavy and backtrack heavy section of the game. Probably going to leave the drinking rules as is for the rest of MGS1, but come MGS2 we're definitely doing current rules + thread suggested/voted conditions. We've also recorded enough to keep up an episode every two days for the next little while, barring any scheduling issues I want to keep that up. Unfortunately I have an 8-day work week, so I work different days every week. Scheduling is bound to get fucky at some point. Let's Play Metal Gear Solid Episode 4 - Gray Fox's Punchout!! An episode that starts with James Bond and Spiderman fist fighting each other, followed by Otacon talking about anime for 15 minutes. This is as Metal Gear as it gets. Fun facts for this episode: -Each photo takes up two blocks of data. Save files only take one. -When Otacon mentions "the President", he's referring to Baker, not Solidus. I just wanted to talk about Solidus. They might be literally the easiest cameras to avoid in the whole game. You mean the ones in the tank hangar? The problem I had on the right side was trying to get the right timing to snatch the guard without walking on the loud floor. The camera itself was barely an issue since half the time it looks over at a dead end I have no need to go to. The one on the left I chaffed basically on autopilot because I couldn't be arsed with it. The ones in the warhead storage area I DID just run under since no one is wandering too closely around them. My main regret is not thinking to just flip the guard and run away, considering that's pretty much been my mainstay so far.

Let's Play Metal Gear Solid Episode 5 - Mei Ling's Rage Mantis, you might want to recalibrate that psychic stuff. Fun facts for this episode: -If you repeatedly call Mei Ling and say you don't want to save, she sticks out her tongue at you. We were planning on doing that until she killed the mood by yelling at us a bunch. -I totally thought Psycho Mantis was a Latino luchadore when I was a kid, apparently he's Russian. This game is an accent catastrophe. -Apparently Mantis worked for both the KGB AND the FBI before joining FOXHOUND. Hell of a resume, bro. -Atavistic: relating to or characterized by reversion to something ancient or ancestral. -I actually really liked the Metal Gear Solid book. It was just as campy as the game

I don't dislike MGS4 as much as most people do, it has some really great gameplay additions, the only problem being that the locations are sorta lovely, and good loving god 90% of the game is cutscenes and that awful Prague level. They even managed to make Shadow Moses suck by filling it full of hundreds of bullshit fun-killing robot enemies. Also loving Naomi "HI I DIED IN AN EARLIER ACT HERE'S A VIDEO OF ME EXPOSITING THE SAME loving THING FOR ALL ETERNITY ISN'T THIS A GREAT REWARD FOR THE MICROWAVE HALLWAY" Hunter. I seriously hated Naomi less when she was actively trying to kill me. Also I'm sorry but I love the ending scene with Big Boss. Yeah it's dumb but dammit they both get closure and Snake gets to ride off into the sunset with his Totally Heterosexual™ boyfriend and they get to go on plane adventures with their adopted daughter How is that not the best thing Also here's a bonus video. Let's Play Metal Gear Solid Episode 6 - Pupcave Who's ready for some backtracking?! Fun facts for this episode: - The reason it doesn't let us backtrack is so we can't get the PSG-1 early. Doesn't mean I have to like it though. - Apparently my muscle memory remembers the pupcave way better than my brain does - I loving hate the sniper wolf fight. Snake moves the PSG-1 so slowly that you usually get shot before you can get your sights back on Wolf. MGS1's controls did NOT age well. The entire difficulty of the fight is solely how difficult it is to aim. - We finish up the most egregious backtracking in this and the next episode. I don't mind the PAL key backtracking as much, at least it's the same building, and we get to see REX by then. - Grace is a liar.

There are some pretty good 'hidden' codec moments in MGS2 as well, I'll be trying to show off as many as I can there as well. One codec call I'm upset I kept forgetting about is that in MGS1, if you call Miller on a noisy floor, he tells you to walk slowly, but snake responds with "I...
