Countess Mignole in Open sesame, but I might have misspoken, since IGN article only speaks of bombs and decoctions. And of course the viper armor schematics, which you also need to buy from her. For some reason I got those but didn't have the sense to check what else she sells.

Anywhoo I gotta check all the merchants again, but it definitely seems like I'm not lucky with them. It's mostly oils I'm missing the superiors of.

On a related note, I wonder if the people responsible for the music in this game ever played Arcanum? It's one of my personal unsung favourite games and sometimes the music reminds me of it.

For what it's worth on my first playthrough I literally bought everything from Gremist and the Hobbit in Velen, did EVERY ? IN THE GAME and still was missing out on two superior oils in the end.

Cursed was one of them.... I think the other was Relict.

I'm convinced that somewhere in the game assets the game thinks it gave it to me, but it didn't. I'm not terribly far into NG+ but have not found any in chests.

I think it's just a glitch or something.

I think I'm also missing out on the superior version of a bomb.

I used to think I was missing out on the superior demetrium, but then I realized I had both superior and regular from the story. Basically Smiles gives you regular bombs and it'll stay in your inventory forever being replenished. Just drop 'em provided you have the better one.

Is CDPR for real with this game? just came back to a few days ago after getting a new video card and there was a 17 gb update to patch 1.10, ok I'll deal with it, finally got it after waiting until my uncapped bandwidth period after midnight for a few days and I look today as it finally finished and there's another 10gb one to download. might as well just go the hearthstone route and make me download the entire game again every time I want to patch.

There's really no way to fix the issue you are describing and I'm not sure why that's CDPR's fault. Is this the first online video game you've played? Huge patches require changing a lot of files, which must be redownloaded, as well as all of the files that control those files, as well as the ones that contain those files, and so on all the way up the chain. The more stuff you patch, the more stuff dependent on those files must also be patched.

edit: GOG Galaxy does suck though.

Oddly, it said I already had it even though it wasn't in my alchemy list and wasn't able to make it. Way to make my hours searching chests for it trivial, huh.

I think that it's just a thing that happens and you just kinda have to go with it. It's probably not intentional, but I'm pretty convinced the game thinks I have em all.

Is this introduced with heart of stone or were they using a mod to hotkey multiple potions? I sure would like to hotkey more than 2.

No need to panic.
Where are the tax collector and gwent merchant?

Fun little thing I found when visiting the herbalist's hut: a little cinematic starts up and Geralt is attacked by a boar. You kill the boar and Geralt mentions that something seemed off, but that's all that happens. If you activate Witcher senses you see that the boar was shot and if you follow the trail you find a guys corpse. The corpse has a note on it from the herbalist apologizing for his boner pills not working and advises he try powdered boar tusk. It mentions not hunting boars though as that's crazy dangerous, but I guess the poor guy just really needed to fix his dong.

The only bug I've experienced was related to the "Novigrad - Closed City" quest. I completed this quest prior to 1.10. But 1.10 split the quest into two parts or something, so then it said that I failed part two, despite doing the whole quest previously.

I hate seeing that one failed quest in an otherwise perfect game.

I'm on PS4, so not much I can do about it. :(

I decided i'm more into the game for the story and to be a cool bad rear end and i'm not a real gamer, so I turned the difficulty down to Only The Story, and it's more manageable now.

I bought the game through GoG when it had its sale, and I had a coupon code from there, but I cannot tell if the free dlc or hearts of stone is installed. It says owned but I cannot see if the expansion stuff is actually installed.

I think GoG just preloads the expansion even if you don't own it. So as long as it doesn't say update available you should be straight, don't quote me on that though.

Well that sucks I updated to patch 1.10 but made a copy of the folder before I did so since I was worried about updating so far into the game (got like 5 question marks in Velen left). After doing the patch the game loads up and goes right to a black screen.

Ok, maybe it is reshade DLLs so I remove them from the folder. Nope, still get a black screen. I then remove all the mods, still get a black screen. Base game at 1.10 just sits at a black screen. I redownloaded ita nd having the same issue after the update. I can't imagine it is my video card drivers or anything. I have no mods or debug enabler or anything but a completely base game! Glad I made a back up of my 1.08 copy, but now I wonder if buying heart of stone will have the same issue or fix this problem which only seems to happen with 1.10. This really sucks because I wanted to use the multiple potion hotkeys.

Quick question, but is there any kind of perk or item you can get or even mod that impacts the quest experience for lower level quests? I just did "the gangs of novigrad" and got 2 experience for doing the entire quest. Sure its 10 levels below me, but it took over a loving hour or 2 and I get 2 experience points? I don't want to skip any quests because I want to 100% the game ... this is my biggest complaint of an otherwise flawless game.

Using mods to increase XP is just going to make the problem worse, not better. There is SO MUCH content in this game that if you got a "reasonable" amount of XP for everything just to make it feel worthwhile you would blow past the recommended levels even more.

If anything I wish they LOWERED or removed XP entirely and just gave you ability points and slots from completing quests. That way you would feel like significant quests always give you rewards (ability points or whatever). The XP and level system feels kind of artificial and is not very well balanced imo.

Seriously trying to min/max XP by completing all your quests before you out-level them is pretty impossible. You're going to have gray quests no matter what, there is just so much XP available relative to what you need to level up.

Edit: not to try and tell people how to enjoy their game, but I think Witcher 3 really is best played primarily just to soak in the fantastic dialogue, writing, and world-building. If you're skipping through dialogue to hurry up and get some XP, that XP is going to do almost nothing for you.

Just forget XP and levels exist.

There are more herbalists in the game world and they sell it - the one in White Orchard is garbage, it's basically the tutorial area in this game. You can do that contract later when you uncover more stuff and get the ingredient, there's nothing pushing you to do it right now and if the only herbalist you know is in White Orchard then you really, really should explore more of the game world anyway.

It's more challenging but you get to use the stuff you got in your first game (except Gwent cards) straight away, though all your armour and weapons, even mastercrafted, quickly becomes obsolete. Mostly nice to not have to hunt for potions and oils again.
