Ugh, 1.10 has a slew of new quest bugs. Wolf armour quest is bugged, guess I can just go back to it later. CDProjekt has been pretty good about fixing the quest bugs so far, though.

What do you mean by bugged? You have to progress the main questline before you can travel to Kaer Moren

I had a bunch of problems with triss getting stuck in her now or never questline, kept getting hung up on doorways or on beggars in the street, had to reload a few times to fix it

The crystal on the ledge you need for the portal doesn't spawn, no matter how many reloads.

The Igni armour reduction is really good with fast attacks and whirl, so just one slot to add a lot of power to it and give you some stamina regen for signs and whirl.

I've hit the end of Chapter 1 in Witcher 2 and now I have an odd urge to camp the nekker / malena cave for mutagens , save, do roche's path, come back later and do Iorveth's path. Good idea / bad idea?

Honestly still a little confused as to mutagens overall. Would it be worthwhile to try stacking critical effects mutagens? I seem to mostly be going signs, with a little alchemy and basic swords.

Mutagens aren't that important, you can do whatever caters to your playstyle and not really worry if you are making a poor decision. Effects are cool with sign builds. All three trees are good in Witcher 2, but I believe many people have said that while having the sword tree as your main point dump is effective it isn't as fun in a general sense.

And yes, definitely have a save before the decision leaps into chapter 2, in case you want to do a second play through (you want to do a second play through).

EDIT: The save is nice, but some people do like to start from the beginning since the prologue has some decisions in it as well.

There are no more witcher schools. However, of the witchers that still live, almost all of them walk the path and take contracts.

Does my boy Iorveth ever show up? Saskia? Working with Vernon Roche over and over is making me feel a little awkward. Also is this "Dijkstra" fellow from the Roche side of things? There's a clear history here, and I don't remember him at all.

Iorveth and Saskia were cut, there is no content with them outside from half mentions. Dijkstra is from the books, his journal entry should tell you what you need to know.
