Your timeframe is far too short. It took a million years for the Permian-Triassic extinction to take place even with the entirety of Siberia being one giant volcano in a non-stop eruption.

Robotics aren't a magic bullet, certainly not in the foreseeable future, and they won't help at all if people keep blowing up all your robots. Those people who rented luxury condos at the bottom of a missile silo may wake up one day to find chlorine gas spreading through the ventilation system.
